Good work Laurie. Have you seen a close-up of one the monster's feet? In the second photo of the OP it doesn't appear to be webbed, but that one foot looks as though it's been stripped naked, rather like the front of the head, so it's hard to say.

I'd say this one is actually a sea otter- their paws are said to be mitten-shaped, with cat-like retractable claws. Smile

Well done Laurie! I got the teeth right, and you got the feet right. We both got the family, and you got the species! The original article said that the creature was 20cm long, but I thought that had to be a mistake, but I guess not.

Based on everything including that article I've come to realize what the photo is of. It is a Hairy Trout. I'm glad that is resolved.
