Hello my fellow magicians,
I've recently invested in a new website. It's just been uploaded and my first instinct was to log onto here and get some feedback. So, if you would be so kind, I would be grateful for ANY feedback regarding my site. ALMOST posted without the website address.... http://www.gigglegigs.com.au Thanking you in advance. I'm usually not a big fan of flash sites but I like this one, it's a lot of fun.
One technical thing I noticed is that the clouds at the top and bottom will cover up some important information at some screen sizes. They just need to be moved down a few layers. |

Very professional.
One of the nicest I have ever seen.
After much soul searching about a signature, I decided not to have one.

Well done. Colorful, cheery and easy to look at. Easy to navigate and I am a BIG fan of keeping text to a minimum. As you get feedback from your clients, you'll tweak a bit and add a couple of things.
I am wishing you had a live action video link |

Very visual and nice! Actually...very impressive!
The links on the bottom (the row under the pricing graphical link) are 90% hidden under the clouds for me (I only saw them at the last minute). Very hard to click on them. I use google crome as my browser so perhaps test it for yourself. I personally would suggest more content. I'm not 100% understanding the concept and would like it described a little more. It does look like a lot of fun! |

Wow, man, I want to hire you both! This is a great website, it worked well on my screen. If I were to offer a suggestion I think it would also be more content. I think you two are so creative, and what you're doing is very original and appealing. I'll bet you're covered up with work! Great job, I'm inspired!

It looks great and you look like a lot of fun. that's the positive.
Unless it was my computer, there was no music on the site. The way it appears, it cries for some upbeat, kid friendly instrumental music on a loop. I would have also like to have seen any video you have of yourself interacting with kids and any testimonials. That always helps to sell. But it really is a great looking site! |

Looks nice. However text in Flash is not picked up by search engine bots so your entire site is invisible to them. An all flash site may look nice but it will suffer in the search engine rankings. Best to only have the title encoded in flash and all the verbiage, with plenty of reference to your names and activities done in HTML or a similar markup language

I want to reaffirm/echo BIG and Payne's comments.
- You need testimonials. Social proof is critical. - Video of you in action is also just about a must have these days. - All FLASH doesn't do you any good with search engines. I suggest adding a link to one or more pure HTML pages where you can put in your testimonials, text for the search engines to chew on, and a video demo of your amazing act. Design wise, this is very cool. A few enhancements and you'll really have a powerful, gig producing site. --Jack Turk

1. The word 'pricing' at the bottom of the page was hidden by the mobile number and cloud. You need to shift it a bit to the left so that everything is visible.
2. The picture on your 'Pricing' page shows your underpants within your costume. This does not look good. I love the picture, so maybe just photo-shop them out? 3. Still on the pricing page, the '$' sign is covering the word 'depending'. Its a minor squabble, but you have a big space within the lines of text so this is easily corrected. 4. Some of the words in bold purple are hyperlinked, while others are not. This is very confusing. If your going to hyperlink words, they should be in blue and all the other words the same colour. 5. I like information, and your site has none. I still have no idea what it is your offering. Do you do a magic show, puppet shows, games, disco, dancing? I read that your purchased some props, but at no point does it say what I'm getting for my money, just a 'package'. Does that fee cover both of you, so am I getting a face-painter AND a magic show (or whatever) at the same costs? 6. I need to see photographs of you in action, or a promo video. Its 2010 and a must see for clients to know your good enough for their children. 7. Your site looks great but being all flash, you won't appear on any search engines, won't be findable on iphones and mobile Internet devises. May have lots of problems with different browsers and won't be accessible on older dial-up connections. You should have a flash and non-flash selection screen at the beginning which will solve all these problems. 8. The word 'Giggle Gig' at the top of the page is partially behind the clouds, this should be in front. 9. The link 'Who is Giggle Gigs?' reads 'Gigale' because of cloud cover. 10. It doesn't say you can perform for schools or birthdays, christening or events etc. While you can do this in words on your mandate page, I would actually advise you just get some good photographs of you entertaining a large crowd instead. A good picture can say more than a thousand words. That's it for now. Its looks fancy and first impressions are great. But it didn't answer any questions for me, other than how much your were going to cost. The cost should be at the end of the sales pitch, and you need to describe what you are offering first. So maybe get rid of the pricing page, or replace the page with a 'Show Description' page, and have the cost as a link at the bottom of that page only. Hope this helps, Steve |

As one or two have pointed out before, you really need to have a static, HTML site that search engines can crawl. You can auto-detect whether or not a user has the required Flash player installed on their computer and use that information to direct them to the proper version of your site. Maybe only a small percentage of users won't have Flash installed and be directed to the HTML site, but at least you'd have both covered.
I'm an iPhone user and it's highly annoying to go to a billion-dollar-per-year corporate website (not that you are... are you?!) and find that they couldn't hire a competent web developer to detect my browser and have a usable option available. It's too easy to do. "All Flash" sites are completely useless to an iPhone-er like me because I can't see a thing. I have to jump through hoops (as a web designer myself) to get a website working for the majority of people... including hacking code for the challenging environment known as Internet Explorer (could everyone please use Firefox, Safari or Chrome? Pretty please???) Okay, I've gotten off course. Ultimately, you have a beautiful, eye-catching Flash website with all the elements already in place to create a beautiful, eye-catching HTML website for the non-Flash users and the search engines. |

Hi guys,
Thank you so much for all of the positive feedback and constructive criticism so far! I'm taking everything that has been said so far into account. My web designer (who may be reading this; hey Sam!), mentioned this to me in regards to the flash design... "I've added in a html equivalent into the backend that you don't see unless flash is not available on your computer. This text is found by the search engine. You can see this in action by googleing something that exists only in your site like "sack loads of giggles" and you are the first result." 'Action shots', testimonials and especially videos are things I hope to have on the site soon; unfortunately I haven't accumulated many of these things yet as I've only just started performing as Flymo under the Gigglegigs banner but hopefully soon. Steve, I think you raised some great points too. I tried to keep the content fairly minimal but reading over it I don't think the service itself is quite clear enough. Also, great pick up on the underwear!! Really guys I can't thank you enough. Any more feedback is greatly appreciated! Cheers, Flymo |
