Use the laughter to your advantage. Tell them the more the laugh the more they relax... The more they slip into a deeper state of trance. Look for signs that this is having a possitive effect and start to swing the relaxation into less laughing and take them deeper.

Yes... Both laughter and crying have been long time recognized as tension releasers.

In case you haven't quite figured it out yet Pedro, you can use any response to your advantage as long as you remain quick witted.
Itching = Your skin is even relaxing. You can scratch it if you want to.... anything that helps you relax even more. Crying = Your mind is trying to wash away the stress of everyday life. That is the first step into relaxation. Short attention span/unable to focus during fixation method = Your subconsience is taking over trying to gather all the information it can. This means you are relaxing and allowing your mind to free itself. Feet tapping = Your subconscience is playing a song you heard recently and your feet are responding. This shows you have good imagination. Etc. Just put a twist on it to your advantage....much like a politician. -Shane

Just pace and lead eh? I knew about the principle, but hadn´t thought of applying it to when someone bursts out laughing and can´t take it seriously!
Nice input guys. Owen

More often than not they are nervous. If they are mocking you then move on to someone else don't even try to hypnotise them.

In my own experience I have found out that, with a few exceptions, hypnotizing friends and close relatives is very easy because you have already a great amount of rapport and trust, therefore they fall under in hypnotic trance quite easily.
I think also it is good to practice with them because it gives you confidence which later is projected on stage in an unconscious way. Before my first presentation on stage I practiced a lot with my students at the university, friends and relatives, and it worked fine. My only suggestion would be though, to have a lot of friends volunteering, not only one or two. Giovanni. |
