The effect is like Die-cipher, but the method is impractical and potentially unsanitary. Besides, I couldn't get it to work at all! I am sending it back to Hocus Pocus (yeah for good customer service!) as defective.
Oh, and although the aluminum die looks decent, the "box" is very cheap, thin plastic. A true disappointment all around. |

My reaction is similar. The box is thin and one would need to be careful but it seems to be made so the effect works fast.
It does work, it actually worked well but not every time but I only had it a week end and did not work with it. Your unsanitary comment is funny and your fears are not an issue. There would be other ways to do the dirty work. The method works but I no clue how to pull of the second step of the process without looking like I am doing something. I will be surprised they will take it back as defective since there is nothing that can wrong with it. I just want to work with it more to know for sure if I will use this or not. I doubt it if I can not be sure it will work every time and will be able to do what is needed to learn the number, which is not hard but a little obvious. Obvious only in the sense that if you did it as described it could be seen that you are looking someplace. The neat part is that they would not be able to see what you saw and it is cool that you will know the number and you really do NOT open the box or see into it any any way. It really is like X ray vision. It is though something I would like to see the guy who put this out perform to know what to do correctly. |

I have this too, and bought it early on in the release years ago. Truthfully, I've yet to perform it for all the reasons stated. Still, I continue to keep it since the method is so, well, weird.
Fiedler's effects for me, tend to be hit or miss regarding performance value. But I've never been disappointed with his thinking. It may not be practical thinking, but he definitely thinks outside of the box. Literally, in this case.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

The more I play with the box the more I feel it is not a fragile as it feels, especially with the die in it.
Also there are other ways than the suggested method to start the process. I still have not figured out the exact method to KNOW what the number is but am closer to an idea. |

I tried the effect as described I the instructions for a magician who has Die-cipher.
I still amd working it out but it was too funny to seem him play with the die look at the lid and try to make it work like that trick works. I forced him to look at everything HARD before I started the effect. This actually made it even easier for me. He had no clue how I did it. So while my presentation was not up to the level I want, I can tell you that at half the price, it might be fun for those who have it to try it out on a magician who knows Die-cypher and report back. (but be cool and give it your best presentation ) While Die-cipher might be more practical, this one you might find some use from if you give it a go. They will NEVER figure out the secret no matter how long they play with the box. Where as I do not think you can say the same for Die-cipher |
