" it's about a week since you posted DaiJou/Timo. When are you expecting to be going out again?"
Sorry about inactivity, I had a holiday trip last for few days so I've been offline since then. Some gummybears to share with you: I loved the athmosphere in this fair so I decided to visit most of major fairs within driving range this summer. I counted three major fairs and few not-so-major within the next 8 weeks. We will see which of them I'm going to go. About balloons: I'm thinking that I will not do them next time, just to try how something else works as growd gatherer. Maybe Linking Rings? Oh and I try to get photos from local newpaper so I could share them with you guys here. -Timo |

I reckon the Linking Rings is better kept until the end or near the end of the show. Try something that brings the first few people up close. A coin trick, a card trick. Tell people passing nearby to "Come over here and watch this trick!" There'll be lots of postings here about how to build up a crowd once you have two or three people watching. "I loved the athmosphere in this fair so I decided to visit most of major fairs within driving range this summer." I hope you enjoy yourself at them. I find that I have at times when something similar and interesting - circus tricks, pitching, fellow magi buskinig - is on at the same place and time as I am going to be performing. [It's got to the stage where I can't visit a city [I live out in the country] without feeling uneasy about not having my magic gear along and performing.] Being entertained by others is interesting, but if my goal is to promote myself and earn some money, then that's what I need to be doing. The watching of others can come when I'm not working. Visiting the shows will give you an idea of other people performing but to get yourself into busking/featured at these formal occasions you need to contact the organizers maybe half a year before a Fair and maybe you have to pay to get a site that you can work from. That means working to their terms and conditions. Better still, is to have your Show up and running and advise your availablity, send your promotion material etc, and hope that they have enough interest to enter into your contract with them, with you dictating the terms and conditions. This is getting into the business side of performing, and there are some topics on this forum already dedicated to entertaining at fairs. Take a look at http://themagiccafe.com/forums/viewtopic......forum=44
The presentation makes the magic.
