"The "over-proving" is an integral part of the presentation."
I agree with many others that "over-proving" is often unnecessary and is the result of most of magic backgrounds and sometimes over-proving can create suspicion. However, there are some effects where if the entertainer does not do those things to 'prove' or 'over-prove' as the case may be, there are holes in the effect and alternate explanations can diminish or destroy the effectiveness. For many effects there are presentational compromises. For example, you can 'accidentally' flash the prediction card to someone and then say, "I might as well show your friends there too. You're probably going to tell them anyway." In other words it is up to the entertainer, if he is uncomfortable with deliberate 'proving' to find some alternate reason to show this or that so that what needs to be shown and proven is shown and proven, with good justification for the action. My 2 cents anyway. This Protean Eye thing looks really good. |

I have seen Bob perform the effect and know it is a quality killer. I now own it and could not be happier. I have bought most of Bob's other items and have great respect for all he does.

In this case I don't think there is any overproving. What is happening is that you are letting half the audience in on the process by allowing them to see it "uncovered" as you go along.
I think its a neat idea. Its almost like half the audience are actually doing the effect since they are picking volunteers from the other half and are "in" on it. |
