So if you said to someone 'I'm going to show you what it might be like / recreate the experience of what it might look and feel like should you meet a REAL fortune teller' where would that leave you?
Once again, it doesn't matter what you say, people will believe what they like. Just ask all the people who think that Derren Brown is amazing at 'reading' people and 'simply knowing' what they're about because of his amazing 'psychological manipulation'. Which of course is all make believe. People attribute Derren all kinds of powers and you try convincing them otherwise. |

I think that some posters take themselves far too seriously. IMO: If you are an entertainer, your job is to entertain and leave them smiling, happy, and positive . If they have a real problem, send them to a professional: doctor, religious advisor etc.
I don't think that you can go wrong following Richard Webster's advise. |

Why don't we ever see a headline that says "psychic wins lottery?"

Everyone has a "real problem" and may deliberately or inadvertantly disclose it (or give clues). You may have a list of professionals available for referral, but what do you do "in the moment?" Stop the performance? Slip then a note? Take them aside later? Surely not ignore it! Yet, how do you know when they present a "real problem" or are just "faking it" to garner attention. You have to be a bit psychic, I guess -- but "ethically" you should be prepared.

Unless you are a professionally trained in the field that the specific problem is in, send them to someone who can really help them, and keep your own ego in check. The best advise that I ever gave someone was to see a doctor in order to "clear your mind of any doubts." I heard from her about a week later when she called to thank me.
Stay away from things that you know little or nothing about, or have no business interfering with. Character readings are the safest way to go. |
