Can anyone offer an opinion on this trick?

It say that the rope is cut in the middle and with the price I would assume (I know, not good to) that it's a gimmick rope with either s**ps or ma***ts where as the 'cut' is feigned. In which the rope cannot be examined.

It is a manuscript; you make everything yourself.
The ropes cannot be examined, but not for the reason you think. s |
