Would it work and be effective? And can you shim your own shell? What materials can I use for it to be the safest. (for the shell)
thanks! |

I've done a lot of work with and EXP [ and the TUC and never felt the need for a Shimmed Shell since the "X-Stack" can attach to a magnet or several TUC stacked together. No reason you can't do it, but first firgure out what unique effect you might do with it. However, Mr. Tango is making a Shimmed Slippery Shell right now -- may even be available.

Flyswatter,
Thanks for asking your initial question. I've been playing around with the shimmed [, T.U.C. combination for a little while now. I think there are some interesting possibilities. However, in my experiments I've also developed a concern over controlling the noise or "chatter" that the [ makes. When I get around to it I will try a teflon insert and see how that does. |

That is one reason Mr. Tango has developed a Shimmed Slippery Shell. Write him to see if it is available in your size TUC.

There isn't a slippery sam from tango that is shimmed yet. I decided to get Johnny Wongs perfect power 3 to suit my needs. It has a shimmed [ and a split coin insert. Ordered that this morning from penguin.

Take a look at this page, about halfway down: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......tart=240 End of April 2010, he at first indicated that he already made a "steel" slippery shell. (And I went and bought one like a fool - it wasn’t steel and had no magnetic attraction properties). After I mentioned that I had ordered one he backtracked and said he would have them out "soon". I said that it had sounded like he already did have them and he said Quote:
Yes, we sold some of them to the members of the caffe. But now we'll be selling them in massive way. Still waiting......... Thanks! Jim |
