Lots of variables there...
I have seen it played for audiences as big as 300 in a theatre setting. Much larger and you would probably want projectors. With a good projector system, you could do it for an arena. Without projection I would keep it more intimate. |

I agree with Gwyd, and would add that lighting will be a factor, too; if you have good stage lighting that really makes the blades shine, even though the audience can't make out details, then you may be able to play to a slightly larger crowd.

It's all in the lighting and acting, unless you're talking about an arena.

With a regularly lit stage in 3/4 round set up, would 200 people be okay? I can't count on special lighting...and I have only done it in smaller setting so just don't know the scope it can play for...

Like Gwyd said Variabls!
If I were plannin on doing this on your set up ....... ...... I would get myself down to the theatre and get the lightin up and running and get it videoed from severl places and watch them (or getsome mates in to watch from different places). Then you can make a decision based on facts rather than speculation. I think they call it tecnical rehersal ( when you have lights and mike etc up and running). Dave |

Saw Teller do his needles (so kinda similar) at the Hammersmith Apollo Londo last Friday. This seats about 3000 (ish) and it played well.
They had projectors, but the way those babies catch the light makes them visible from way back even without the screens.

I have done it in front of 900+ but I did have 2 video screens above the stage but I think 300 - 400 is good without screens.
