Think...only you know the answer, and it is a number that exists only in your own mind.
But in case you decide to change your mind and embarrass me in front of my honoured guests, please write that number down on this piece of paper, then give it to me to destroy. Alternatively... One. But another seventeen to point out the subtleties in the way it might best be changed. |

Only one.
And only one bulb is used. It can be on or off. It's in plain sight throughout the change and the mentalist never comes near it. No rough and smooth. No threads. No guesswork. No preshow. No stooges, instant or otherwise. No equivoque. No sleights. This is a reputation maker.

None... with clever use of psychological subtleties, the lightbulb will change itself without ever realising that it did.

It won't get done. At the store there will be a self working one and one requiring a sleight of hand. An argument over which is best will ensue and no decision will ever be reached.

I think that before asking those questions you should start getting to know the search button...
it is not about giving you the answer, its about you finding it.... |

Just one, but they will need to touch the lightbuld, and if any other mentalists finds a way of doing it without touching the lightbulb, they will instantly be disparaged and told they are wasting time.

A young mentalist will change a lightbulb "using a brand-new method", only to find out that the same method is in a book from the 1920s, and the handling of the lightbulb is much better...

You're sure you want the lightbulb changed? Do you want to change your mind?

Q: How many Bizzarists does it take to change a light bulb?
A: None. They prefer candles.

Why would a mentalist want to change a light bulb? They're always wearing blindfolds anyway.
