Can anyone help with a little history mystery?
I have several tarot effects from Murray's Magic Mart of Ohio and I'd like to find out more about them. Specifically: *Who created them and does anyone have a catalog of all the tarot items Murray offered *Who was Murray, what is his history and what really happened to him (I saw mention of his accidental death in another thread but can't find anything on the internet) *Did he have a shop or sold only through mailorder/wholesale Right now it's strictly out of curiosity, but any information or personal anecdotes would be appreciated. Anyone out there in Caféland have any knowledge on old tarot tricks from Murray?
Just thought a let this float for another week, and test the waters again. Thanks in advance, I know someone won't let me down! Larry |

One of my favs was "Bewildered in Tarot." I still use the method here and there. The tarot cards added a really cool feel to the effect.

H20, ask the resident Historian Bill Palmer,
this man is a wealth of historical knowledge. |

I believe Bill Palmer was around when the first bit of legerdemain was performed and has kept a complete and detailed log of that feat and every subsequent one. It's about the only way I can explain his knowledge of this stuff.
Or maybe it's just magic! |

I too have "Bewildered in Tarot," but haven't put it to good use because I felt the back design would be odd without having a whole deck of 007 cards to go into a full reading if asked. isid0re & gmeister: I would have hoped he might have seen the thread without my having to bug him, but now that you've pointed me in the right direction, I'll PM Bill Palmer. I've also thought of asking Ford Cross, does anyone know if he's approachable for matters such as this? Is anyone else not curious about histories of the long line of magick that's been made from the tarot? Or perhaps when its use fell out of favor, and why the tarot hasn't made a bigger comeback in it's use as a magickal prop? Or just an answer to the questions posted above? The flame of hope has been rekindled. Thanks for your input, Larry |

Believe or not there is a huge interest in Tarot magic, but probably not here. Try the Bizarre section.
And please let us know what Bill told you. There actually have been several post on Tarot magic, but this is the first I have heard of Murray's Magic Mart. You may want to check out Black Hart (UK Bizarre merchant) he has some Tarot decks that may be of interest to you, and Card Shark will make up any deck that you want. JerryB |
