You think that the system is EVIL and that is that. No biggie. You get to live in a place that allows you to be critical of those who provide the very means of your security. Congradulations. You never have to do anything but sit and think and be critical. Having been a watcher, hurt in the process pretty badly, I find your positions and accusations beyond insulting. Yes someone needs to watch the watchers and when they are wrong they need to be taken to task for it. In many ways a special brand of justice should be held for those acting with "color of authority" no doubt. But your extreme view of perfection and Utopia are unattainable. Have no fear. The police will show up when you need them, as will the firemen, and the armed forces will do the best job they are able to. All to ensure (not insure right?) your right and ability to be who you are. Stay on the high horse in Utopia. It is their job to look after you. Gotta LOVE this country brother.

Perhaps it would be helpful of some of you actually went to parts of this lovely planet that reallllly have govts that are out to hurt their populace. This is like a pack of virgins trying to describe the actions in a brothel without having been there.

More like being in the middle of a brothel and thinking you're in a convent.

Not saying myself, or anyone here, has been presented with enough to suggest they do that, but I think it is far more honest then just being stubborn. Then again, there is a difference between stubborn and integrity.

When was the last time you changed your mind or even read a book that didn't conform to your particular narrow viewpoint? I mean the WHOLE BOOK, not the exerpts that the blogs tell you what they mean. Now mind you this is not only you who does this. Everyone is guilty to this to one degree or another. Myself included. It is more fun to read things you agree with in the first place. Why bother with what you don't agree? I am just curious if you have the insight to see it.

I am merely striving to eliminate those in my own thinking.

Apparently you don't really own your lawn either:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/6282348.stm http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,288642,00.html Seriously, we need the police to make sure you keep your garden up to snuff? ***edit*** for the second link, you'll need to copy and paste it into your web address bar. The Café seems to break urls at commas and I can't remember how to do a hyper link.

Penn and Teller did a show on a lawn causing an arrest.
My favorite lawn story was the man where I worked (an Englishman) who was a brilliant engineer who designed nearly half of the products released by Analog Devices. The man was brilliant and extremely nuts. When me moved to the US to work for Analog he lived in a nice area called Palo Alto (he now lives in a reallly nice home in the hills above the other wealthy people) and being a nutjob he didn't care about his yard. He got a letter from some association telling him that the yard was in need of manicuring and that the neighborhood prided itself on having lawns that never need cutting because they are maintained at all times bleh bleh bleh. This engineer bought a junk car and put it on blocks in the middle of his yard, watered it so it would be overgrown, and told the neighborhood to do themselves if they didn't like it! The association finally gave up and hired landscapers to fix the yard for him, which he accepted. He now is the owner of a great pub in the South Bay as well as a brilliant engineer, you'll find him in his bar bobbing for bar top most nights. |
