Hello!
I perform close up and standup/parlor acts. I carry my act around in a large doctors bag with two zippered pockets on both sides and that's about it. All my magic in storage is individually bagged in Ziplocs and labelled accordingly. My gaffed decks have labels on the bottom of the cases. How do you think I should carry around the effects in my bag? Should I keep them in Ziplocs? Or any suggestions for division? Thanks everyone! |

What I do is for the tricks I am using, I take them out of the Ziploc bag, put the bag in another container marked "Tricks in Use". Then I arrange the tricks in my close-up bag, so I know were each is placed. Depending on the items like for a chink-a-chink items, I have small drawstring bags made in different colors, so I know a certain color represents a certain trick.
Some may require a nice presentation box, so I find a suitable box for something that requires many piece, like my Roy Johnson Finger Ring Trick. |

I love the idea of utilizing a Tricks In Use box. Thanks wmh!
Another thing: should I put EVERYTHING I have in Ziplocs? They would all fit but do you think I should put like my wallets and other things that are kind of obvious in bags for consistency? |

For storage I put all my equipment in bags. Beside Ziploc bags, I purchased larger bags from Office Depot. I include the instruction sheets and/or the video instruction. This puts everything together in one bag. So if at later time, I want to review the instructions, I can easily. This also helps if several routine ideas are included with the appratus. Maybe there was a 2 routine or idea, that I would like try now, that I did not impress me to begin with.
I also include and ideas sheet. Maybe someone in a magazine or here on the Café, suggested an idea. If I like it, I make a note or copy and put in the bag. Plastic keep your leather goods like new. It also keeps playing cards like new, they will not dry out over years. If you squeeze the air out of bags, it will preserve the equipment really well. |
