TAOM 2010 has come and gone.......I personally didn't get enough sleep.
It was great to meet up with old friends, and meet new friends as well. Highlights for me were in no particular order: 1) Jimmy Fingers Midnight Madness in the lobby 1 hour show featuring magic and mentalism as well as his Magellan Master Levitation 2) Watching Coin Menagarie live as performed by Paul Vigil, effect by Armando Lucero. 3) Watching HCE live for the first time 4) Getting to finally see McBride do his Card Manipulation act live 5) Jamming out magic with Paul Vigil, Jimmy Fingers, Rob Domenech, plus many others. 6) Getting to session with Jeff McBride for nearly 2 hours, talking magic history, Gilbreathe, as well as showing a him a few effects All in all it was a convention to remember! I cant wait for next year.... I want to give a shout out to Brad Henderson..........thanks for everything, plus the TAOM committee. Anybody else have nay other stories..... Alex

It was great to finally meet you, Alex! I had a blast!
Just like most conventions, the real learning and fun doesn't begin for me until after the lectures and shows when everybody is sitting around talking shop until the wee hours of the morning. TAOM 2010 was no exception. Jimmy Fingers was amazing! Such an unassuming character that packs an incredible punch! He also has some of the most incredible impromptu mentalism I've ever seen. Paul Vigil was incredible as always. I've known him for years and he never ceases to amaze me. He may not be the tallest person around, but he's always the biggest person in the room. Those of you that know Paul know exactly what I mean. I had the great opportunity to introduce one of my understudies to my friend Michael Weber who then melted his mind with a very strange card effect. I expect nothing less from Weber. WWWD? Paul introduced me to Jared Brandon who happens to live near me. Jared is amazing. Absolutely amazing. Incredible skill and a fantastic personality. I look forward to jamming with him here at home. The only show I got a chance to attend was Whit "Pop" Haydn's. Classic magic done right. 'nuff said. -rob |

Yes, the high point of the convention for me was when Lucy, my eight year old granddaughter, assisted Whit Haydn in the Linking Ring routine during his show on Friday night. Thirty-three years earlier, my daughter Shari, Lucy's mother, assisted Karrell Fox in HIS Linking Ring routine during a TAOM performance. (A full page picture of them appears in Karrell's 'Another Book.')
Whit and Nancy were kind enough to allow us to receive a video of Lucy's performance--thanks to the kind and generous assistance of PJ Campagna! For all the parents and grandparents on the Café, this is TRUE MAGIC!! Tom |

Scott Wells reported for the Magic Newswire from the 65th annual Texas Association of Magicians gathering in Austin. We were lucky to get interviews with a very diverse group of performers, lecturers and magic celebrities including Michael Webber, Richard Garriott, Fumio, Hull Youngbood. Marshall Brodien, SAM President mark Weidhass, TAOM Secretary Mary Cay Gold, Oscar Munoz, Jeff McBride, Paul Vigil, Pop Hayden, Sam Sawyers, Wayne Dobson, Pat Hazell and many more! If you missed it, you can still feel like you were there with this episode of the Magic Newswire podcast!

Hi Alex, it was great seeing you there! You and your dad are awesome, I have really enjoyed getting to know both of you.
Thanks for the nice words, are you sure that it was an hour? It seemed to go by in what felt like moments, and then it was over. It was just a dream. I've never been invited or included and this was all made possible by the huge character of Brad Henderson. I met so many people. Paul Vigil is absolutely amazing, in every way imaginable! His character and ability are simply impeccable. I can't wait to see everyone in Vegas next week! Jimmy Fingers |

Great convention, possibly the best I have attended in 36 years. That includes many SAM, IBM, and Desert Magic Seminar's in Las Vegas.
The line up was second to none and the concept of complete one man shows was refreshing. I hope other convention planners will think about this in the future. Also every room had built in theater seating. Tiered seating is worth the additional cost. That is the way magic should be seen. Thanks to Hull Youngblood, Brad Henderson and friends. You did a great job. Gregg Lancaster Mental Masterpieces College Station, Texas |
