Hey guys,
I am planning on doing a research paper on Dai Vernon for my high school English class. First, though, I need to know this -- did he ever actually become a US citizen? I know a lot of his material, but not as much about his life. He did spend the majority of it in the US, correct? Thanks guys. If you could recommend some sources that would be awesome. ~ Reactions |

I highly recommend everyone which have just a little bit interest in Dai Vernon's life, to check out this book. Actually, where's two books. Number one is about the first half of his life. Jonathan |

I don't want to sound snotty or anything like that; however, it appears to me that you have the idea that "doing research" means googling. It doesn't. You need to find a rich source of information about Vernon. This means doing a bit of detective work. You might consider starting at the point where Vernon was living at the time of his death. Figure out where he was living at that time, contact the people connected with that place, and see if there is a publication that was connected to it. If you have any connection at all to magic, you already know where and what those two things were. Then contact people who knew him. David Ben would be a good person to contact. He is somewhat accessible, if you don't make a pest of yourself. But don't expect us to write your paper for you, and don't expect to put together a big pile of google sweepings and call them a research paper on Vernon. You would be doing Vernon and yourself a major injustice.

The Magician and the Card Sharpe is also a colorful must-read.

I second The Magician and the Cardsharp as one of the books you should consider.
