Evidently it was nothing new. According to the Communist News Network:
Quote:
At a news conference at the National Press Club, the six former officers and one ex-enlisted man recalled either personal sightings or reports from subordinates and others of UFOs hovering over nuclear missile silos or nuclear weapons storage areas in the 1960s, '70s and '80s. Also I do not say do not believe in them. Just consider the possibility. Of course we go from the ridiculous to the sublime in these things. Such as being kidnapped by space aliens and having their offspring and on and on from the tabloids at the checkout conuter at the grocery store. However has "Roswell" realy been explained to your satisfaction? What is "area 51" really about? Do you really have any idea of the techonology avaliabale today? Anyone here remember "Dick Tracy" comics from the 40's and 50's with his two way wrist radios which at the time was said to not be possible? Then along comes his two way radio with a TV screen that is then said to be the silliest thing going and absolutely science fiction and not possible. The only thing that has not yet come to pass on Dick Tracy is "The Gravity Car"...of course it is the silliest thing and not possible...IS IT? My only point here is that this is a very interesting topic and actually many people have an interest in these things. Why do I say this? Lets look at the big picture here. I will only post a few items here and you be the judge if there is an interest in these things. "V", "The Invaders", "The X Files", Friday the 13 (the series), Warehouse 13" and on an on. Lets not forget "The Outer Limits", and "The Twilight Zone". Are these things so impossible? Probably most are. But how about telling someone in the early 1900's about a heart transplant. And if you tried it and failed you would probably be convicted for murder, wait that is wrong you would be put away in an asylum. He cut the heart of a person then cut the heart out of another person and put the first heart in the other person...just something to think about. All these things are impossible until they happen. Are there aliens from other worlds? I don't know? Is there life on some kind out there? I don't know? Is there a cure for MS, or Cancer? I don't know. Will these questions ever be answered? I don't know. But how can you not be intrigued by them? Just some of my thoughts on what I think is an interesting topic. However I do not consider my self normal whatever normal is.
If I were to agree with you. Then we would both be wrong. As of Apr 5, 2015 10:26 pm I have 880 posts. Used to have over 1,000

Good posts.
I say it's a triumph of human curiosity and human thought in science. All that we have achieved from the world of Science Fiction to the real world (or yet to be realized) has been realized by way of science. No mumbo jumbo shamanism involved. It is asking for the unprovable that is where it all goes down the drain. Just saying "because I think so or I had a dream..." and wanting me to believe in it, just doesn't cut it for me. Religion does that, not science. Here's to rational thought and curiosity all the way!

These types of things are great thought experiments. There is plenty of evidence, though precious little of it is iron-clad. Best to keep an open mind without getting carried away.
