I'm planning to go to the Sideshow Gathering and my Wife has decided to go to keep me out of trouble. I have some questions:
Where should we stay near the event? What does it cost for the three days? I do the Block Head and would like to get in on the record attempt, who should I talk to? Who from this site is going? Thanks for any info. |

Some folks stay onsite, and there are other motels nearby. I think the Melody Motel, maybe a mile away, is the cheapest. I think it was 30-35 a night.
Admission to the event...Michael K will correct me if I'm wrong...I think $15 for all three days. For blockhead, all you have to do is join in. Bring your favorite nosepick! I'm planning on Sunday, as I also have to work a trade show that weekend.

Funny how when 5 years ago I came up with the idea of a mass blockhead I got resistance.... "it will look too easy if everyone is doing it".... Well, yeah. But funny how last year and this year it's all the rage. Once again, Nippulini comes up with an idea and others run with it.

Will someone be selling nails or ice picks there? I don't think they will let me through airport security with mine.

About the only things you can't get through security, if you check them, are combustibles.

Go to http://www.thesideshowgathering.com for more info. $15 was the admission price for the last year and I suspect that it will be the same or close to that this year.
Hotels: Some folks stay at the Holiday Inn / Host Inn and some stay at the Woodlands (where the event happens which is a good choice) but as long as you have a car you can stay anywhere in Wilkes-Barre and only have a short drive. Blockhead: Last year Tyler brought some nails however you should bring your own because one size doesn't fit all. There will be multiple announcements about the block-head. All the performances are on the same stage so don't worry. Also don't forget about the auction. There are always some great items but you won't know what will be there until you get there. Plus there are always a few extra items added at the last minute. Again there will be many announcements. I'll be there from start to finish and I will have an official stage performance time too! |

Just saw the news that everything will be happening at The Woodlands. So if you are looking for a room I would suggest there. Also check the Sideshow Gathering facebook page for the discount code.

At which Hotel Lounge does the telling of Circus, Carnival and Sideshow stories that can't be told at Magic Café, Sideshow World, or in a Ross McCrae Ballycast..take place, Uh, I would like to be a contributor and that is the Hotel I would like to take up residence at during the After-hours of the Gathering....any suggestions?...Sincerely The Curator (Perhaps I can finally unload and walk away with a clear conscience)

Now if I posted that on the open internet we might just get the wrong crowd
Just spend some time at the event and it will become evident. Sincerely Your 30-miler, 30th of April, no-tent carrying, overeducated blockhead, Michael |
