Hey everyone,
I just watched the travel channel's new special called "magic in the streets." One of the awesome features of the show, Michael Ammar performing. I saw him perform his 2 dollar bill tear routine. I was wondering if anyone has performed this? Can you tell me the pro's and con's before I make up my mind about it? I think its visually facinating. Thanks. Take care everybody! |

I caught the last half of the show. That was a bad camera angel they used on him there - I could see the dollars packet under the $2.00. I guess not many would have seen it if they did not know where to look, but I could see it plain as day.
The Pros are it is a nice visual trick. The Cons are nothing is examinable, before, during, or after the trick, this is overcome by casual handling and convincing shows. I know Ammar sells the $2.00 tear on his website for $14.95 including a $2.00 bill and two $1.00's and how to make the gimmick. If you go get your own $2.00 and $1.00 bills, I would recommend spending just $10.00 more on his Easy To Master Money Miracles, Vol. 2, which also teaches the $2.00 tear. But you also get many other routines: SHADOW COINS (Michael Ammar, David Roth) BESWITCHED (George Hample) COIN FLURRY & JUMBO PRODUCTION SENSORY CONTROL (Bob Elliott) COPPER SILVER TRANSPO COINS THRU TABLE & KICKER $2 BILL TEAR (Bert Jacques & Gene Keeney) SONIC SQUEEZE (Michael Ammar) 4 COIN ROLL DOWN (Manuel) EXPANSION OF TEXTURE (Dai Vernon & L'Homme Masque) BONUS: SELF-FOLDING BILL (Stephan Schutzer) (more bang for the buck) Dan |

I perform this a lot. It is a very powerful piece of magic.
Pros - Carry it with you always. Opportunities to perform it every time you open your wallet (I don't know about you, but I'm going to my wallet throughout the day) or discuss money. It is "visually fascinating." Cons - you have to come up with a solid presentation that covers all the weaknesses that Mr. Watkins mentions, but this is fairly easy to do with some thought. This is not something that you throw together and go out and perform as soon as you've prepared the gimmick-it deserves the proper frame before presenting it to the public. I concur with Dan that it's worth getting the Ammar tape, however, this effect should not be credited to Ammar as far as I know. Best. Dan Magyari

You are correct he credits it to Bert Jacques & Gene Keeney - as can be seen by my paste above.

Brad Burt also sells a $2.00 to 2- $1.00 set. I don't know the price, but the quality is quite good.

Is the bill tear that Ammar sells for $14.95 the same one that is on Money Miracles Vol 2 or is it different? The one he showed on TV was very visual, that's the one I'd like to learn, but wondered if both are the same or different.

They are the same. The one you saw on TV is the one on the tape and the one he sells.

Dan, how are the other tricks on money miracles! Are they awesome tricks! I'm torn between Ammars intro to coins DVD, money miracles, or David Stone. I know Ammars intro to coin DVD shows sleights, but I'd like to get some killer coin routines also. I've read good reviews on Stone. I'm just getting started into coins, I know some basic palms, that's about it. Also, out of Vol 1-3 on money miracles, which is best?

If you are beginning with coins and want some awsome routines as well as sleights go for the Stone or Roth videos. Ammar's Intro video does a great job with sleights, but the routines are also very basic (which isn't a bad thing - sometimes simple is best).
As to which Money Miracles tape I like best, it is volume 2. Dan |
