Pete, I saw Abbott and Costello do that. It's a great routine. The only thing I would change is revealing that the bottle nest inside of each other, but other than it's funny. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxEi6hs2Fa4 and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GM37eJLc1xA&feature=related

The Lance Burton ending with the silks is good because at least this is some type of conclusion and the end of the trick is marked.
Most of the (otherwise excellent) suggestions above are how to do the baseline trick better. For me the multiplying bottles fall just short of greatness because there is not a period at the end of the sentence (See, it's annoying, isn't it...) |

I wasn't changing the thread, I thought that my set was a multiplying bottle set because I had two sets of passe passe, I thought that could be done as a multi-bottle effect. Thanks.

I think billappleton is right about the Tora 10 bottle set being 5 plus 5. See Tora himself perform at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2A1X8GOF7c. A performance we could all learn something from.
Could Tora have two sets of 10 -- a five and five, as in the youtube performance, and a three-stacker with one stack of four? Not likely. For comedy, it's hard to beat Abbott and Costello, but I prefer this version by Pete and Harvey: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GM37eJLc1xA. Of course Harvey's grand entrance didn't hurt. By the why, would somebody give me two tens for a five? Thom |

Ian,
To do either Abbott & Costello routine, you'll need a second person you can shove around, the way Bud shoves Lou around, and to steal the extra bottle. I've never quite understood the logic of the stolen bottle. If it's stolen while the other bottle is shown -- like A & C do, then it exposes that there are two bottles. But of course A & C were comics, not magicians. If the one visible bottle is stolen (that is, the only bottle) then it shouldn't reappear inside the other tube -- unless the stolen bottle is made to vanish first. Perhaps after the bottle is stolen, a different bottle (different color, different label) could appear. Then either it could trade places with the glass, or another bottle, different from either of the others, could appear, etc. I think somebody did a six-bottle version on Celebracadabra, but I can't find any video. Six looks like a lot if you do it right. In Prof. Hoffmann's account of the passe passe bottles, there were just two matching bottles, both of which poured. Thom |

Or maybe have the stolen bottle a Neilson bottle and have the stooge put the bottle in the bag. He keeps showing it to the audience until the magician makes the bottle appear. Then the bag is crushed and the bottle appears under the tube.

The very best Multiplying Bottle routine I ever saw was on "Circus of the Stars", 12th annual show 1987. Delta Burke (from Designing Women show) did a fantastic take on the routine. Don't think anyone else could do it, as she had all the equipment to sell the presentation.

Mtpascoe's idea is just what is needed. Now, can we find a Nielson bottle to match the
multiplying bottles, or multiplying bottles to match a Nielson bottle? The ketchup bottle might be a close enough match to Magicians's bottles. Perhaps instead of starting with a bottle and glass, he could start with passe passe ketchup bottle and tomato? Does anybody have the Tora 10 bottle set? Is it five and five? What is the quality? |

I have the Tora 10, they are 5 and 5
Not sure why someone reported differently They look great BUT there is an issue with the right tube over the right bottle in the right direction one way they can bind So very good, not perfect... |
