I have read T.A.Waters (MM&M) and Silent Running (Harris) and what they say about the technique of fishing. Like to read more on this subject. Are there other books with thoughts on this subject?

While not directly addressing the topic, you may find the routine "Zodiac" in Christian Chelman's "Capricornian Tales" an interesting read due to the particular manner of fishing that takes place. It is a good variation of the Clock Trick during which the participant's birthdate is discerned. Besides being a nice piece, it helped me wrap my head around the concept which at the time I was having difficulty understanding and executing without things seeming obvious.

BackInBlack-
The effect is an old one, often times of a semi automatic/self-working/mathematical nature, which I unfortunately do not know its exact origins; perhaps others here may. However, there is a version in the dover publication "Encyclopedia of Card Tricks" and the effect is featured throughout many other magic books by various authors in one form or another. Jon Racherbaumer's book "On the Clock Effect" is a very thorough treatise on this topic, though I am uncertain as to whether or not it is still available. If interest, perhaps another thread could be started as this is a bit off topic. Hope the information is helpful. Carter |
