I learned that there is a product called Thomas Wayne's "Ultimate Three Fly Wallet". Anyone who owns this wallet, will you please post a review?
I wish to know is this wallet specially used for U3F ? Is there any gimmick with it? Thanks |

Do you have a link to find more info on it? I can't think of any way a wallet would help.

Click on the following link: http://www.martinsmagic.com/?keywords=&a......key=1824 The fourth image is the Wayne U3F wallet which I own. I love it but it does sell for $65. Thomas will personalize it with your initials embossed on the leather. There is a sort of "secret" pocket to ditch the "gaff" at the end if desired, otherwise it's a nice storage for these special and expensive coins. Each coin is individually resting in its own pouch made of European billiard cloth. George |

You can just go to a leather goods store and find your self a really nice leather coin purse for at the most $20.

Q: Why would you want to take coins out of a custom-made, fancy looking purse? Wouldn't this kind of announce "special coins" to the onlooker?
Instead, you could magically produce the three coins, and as you hand them to spectators to admire, get the U3F gimmick from your pocket. Take back the coins (doing the necessary get-ready) and perform the trick. Purses and wallets appeal to magicians (me included), but in this case the purse seems like a liability. Cheers, Jerry |

Quote: Well, the coins ARE Morgan dollars, so it would make sense they'd be special, as they're very expensive and quite rare. Presentation could easily explain where you got these rare coins and why you keep them in a wallet--it keeps them from getting knocked around and scratched etc.

Scott,
I agree with you that some people will like the coin pouch. So it's nice that it's available. My point is really that taking three coins out of a fancy purse is sort of like taking a packet of cards out of a little plastic wallet -- it announces that these items are somehow needed for the magic to work. If you were to take the cards out of a deck -- or the coins out of your pocket (or produce them) -- the spectator wouldn't see them this way. The magic wouldn't be in the cards or coins, but in the performance or the performer. Then again, every magician I know has a drawer full of cool wallets. They're fun to have. Jerry |

I think that treating these coins like they're special isn't such a bad idea. Of course one shouldn't treat them like they're gaffed; but rather, you could talk about how you got them from your father as a graduation gift, or something like that. This would justify carrying them in a separate case instead of in your pocket where they would get knocked together all day.
As a practical issue, I know that Mr. Wayne has said that he designed this case for his own use of not only carrying the coins, but to secretly get rid of the gaff as well. I was talking to a guy the other day who is a professor at a local university. One day he performed U3F and then replaced the coins and placed the case on his desk. One of the students who he was showing the routine to actually picked up the case afterwards and took out the coins (without the gaff which they never became aware of). |

Well,I am that professor and appreciate that my experience stuck in someone's mind. Thanks MJ.
I was a little hesitant to buy something that calls attention to itself as a potential gaff but, as Scott points out, Morgan dollars (or any silver dollars) are a little unusual themselves these days. I don't focus on the case when I remove the coins. I focus on the coins. The case falls out of the perceived performance area. My student took the coins out of the case and really scrutinized them. The case never even concerned him. An important point to me is that the magic happens with the coins. The case is entirely incidental, just someplace that you put the coins away AFTER the routine. |
