I have auditioned exactly twice in 40 yrs, once for a job at a small theme park in Kentucky (and got 3 summers of work from it) and once for Cedar Point (got 2 summers of work from it). I can't imagine that it would be worthwhile to audition for a single engagement. I have always had a demo tape, now a demo CD, but with websites that seems to be the answer.
One funny story about a ventriloquist I booked. His demo had a large portion of his act and a client hired him after seeing the demo. When I called to see how the act went he said "Everyone loved him but it seemed to me that I have heard a lot of the jokes before". Gil |

I've done showcases but never auditions.
I provide references, and I provide demo videos. But I think auditions are a losing proposition in most cases. |
