I am about to finalize a balloon float effect and need info on anything similar.
I normally do the effect with a standard zombie ball. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dngkNbjkQRo But I have a balloon (with extra effects) coming soon. ------ Are there any out there? Mine uses no threads. No assistants.

Abbott Magic use to have a very inexpensive floating balloon in their older catalogs. Don't know if it is still available, think I seen it in their PDF catalog 2 catalog ago. Never bought it so I do not know anything about the working.

Try contacting John Sterlini. He use to sell/build a floating balloon illusion that was pretty cool. http://sterlini.com/

Thanks, I have my own method created 35 years ago. No air flow, or pneumatics at all. No helium, thread, wire, etc. I am looking for known methods to make sure I am not duplicating something already in place.

I *think* your method may be similar to Jeb Sherrill's handlings, mabye check that out. Magically, Walt

One method that I have (I believe it's Abbotts) uses a zombie style gimmick and you drop a m***** into the balloon as you blow it up.

His Zombie was not the same (although he said he thought of something similar to mine but never worked it out). Blair: My method is not a magnetic zombie hookup either. I had experimented with magnets several years ago, and it slides around too much and there is no guarantee as to where it winds up connecting. But, that was an experiment with the standard zombie gimmick. This is looking promising, I just wanted to make sure by asking around so as not to step on toes. My zombie ball (I spoke to Walt last year about) was different, I wasn't sure about the balloon angle being different. Remember Walt, I also did a candle with my method. I will have a video clip next month as I am breaking it in at a magic club show. The balloon will be illuminated which allows me to do some additional moves and lighting I was lacking in my Floating ball in the video clip. This could also be a lead in from d'lite as I could toss the light into my balloon. Once lit, I will float it with and then without a cloth. Thanks to all. ------Ian Note: after I work out a few bugs, I will be releasing this to the public.

Sounds great Ian,
though perhaps audiences think "it's a balloon of course it floats" I would rather see in addition to that, some sort of mystical ball (need not bee mirror finish, maybe lit) or a lit lightbulb. That's just my lone opinion though, thanks, Walt |

The old Abbott's effect is called Super Duper Balloon. I had two of these built into my side tables. I thought it was pretty awesome .. but, I'm not sure if I was fooling anyone.
Last time I checked, they were going to make a run of these at Abbott's. I just might be available again. Steve |

I know you said lit Ian,
but I was suggesting a ball or bulb along with a balloon might be good additions to your set. Walt |

I can do a giant light bulb or a ball, but This balloon has a Blinking LED inside it. OPtion rapid blinking, solid, or slow blink.
The mystery might be the control of a floating item. Anyway, I have to get it out of my system. The solid ball (zombie) method I use, is difficult to sell and perform plus has lighting problems. The self lit balloon, allows freedom.

You seem to be talking about a zombie method for a balloon if I understand correctly?
There is a French dealer who sells a floating balloon (may be similar to Sterlini's) and then there was also Braco's Ball (which was more like a balloon). Losander also demonstrates a paper ball decoration in one of his lectures (the ball is very balloon like). None of these however are related to the zombie. |
