Me too, I never take the top newspaper or the top magazine from the rack, always the 2nd or 3rd. Just want one that is a little less handled.
The major league catcher & coach and OSS agent Moe Berg (Brooklyn Robins, Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Indians, Boston Red Sox) would not allow his teammates to touch his newspapers while they were still "alive," i.e. before he read them, only afterwards, when the newspapers were "dead." Woland |

I don't take the top newspaper either... It appears to be an epidemic...
If I were to take the top paper and place it in the center, would it still count? Would it still bear 'the curse of the top paper?'

I'm aware of that possibility, so even when taking a paper out of the middle of the stack, I check to make sure it looks untouched.

I cant close the door to our house unless I am holding the keys. I have never left them inside, its just the thought of getting locked out that is unbearable.
I am not a "clean freak" but I have to vacuum our bedroom every day. I just have to make sure there aint dust balls flying around. The bedroom is the only room this applies to. Like mentioned by others, I cant take the top newspaper either.

Ok...The weirdness with the whole newspaper thing is that you guys still get newspapers.
Newspapers? Really? G |

Yes, really! I use computer all day long, handle much stuff on the road with iPhone and yet I love an old fashioned newspaper. I like the smell of it and I like the moment I take to read it. Also I airbrush a lot and handle much resins, silicones and stuff like that so old newspapers are much better as a cover than my iPhone or Macbook! LOL

My shoes have to feel exactly the same (tightness, left vs. right). My shirtsleeves have to be rolled up exactly the same, left vs. right. Same with suspenders.
And I have the same "never the first or on top" issue and not touching door handles, etc. that have been mentioned. In fact, you all sound perfectly normal to me. Beano |

I make my dogs talk to my wife and argue with each other. I also wanted the worlds largent vent character so I wrote a routine for Lake Tahoe, dirty jokes mostly, and brought my wife up and did the routine for her. She has no sense of humor.

Talking to animals is very therapeutic. Besides, they do listen. At least dogs do. I have always talked to my dogs and I do talk to birds and rabbits and just recently to a fox (a personal first). My mom talked to animals all the time and my dad and sister do as well

In another thread in this forum, an account of a magical apprenticeship in India, Sorcerer's Apprentice by Tahir Shah, was mentioned. Here is Tahir Shah's description of Master Hakim Feroze's habits:
Quote:
The odd timings of Feroze's life, and his senseless concern for minutiae, suggested he was a man haunted by an extreme condition of obsessive-compulsive disorder. Only a true obsessive would go as far as timing every feature of his day. A pocket-watch was always within easy reach of the magician's hand. Sometimes I would catch him noting down times: how long it had taken him to drink his tea; to walk from the kitchen to the study; to read a chapter of text; or to peruse his post. A man after our own hearts, eh? Woland |

Almost sounds more autistic than OCD. The bathwater temp and the window thing are rather precise details.
