I have a question about the Sedin twins if anyone knows. I was just curious how famous they are at home? In a place like Chicago they would not be able to walk the streets because of fame. I would imagine that in a place like Vancouver it is even MORE true.
They were drafted second and third overall in 1999 and are really fun to watch. I was just curious as to what sort of exposure they get at home?

By "home" do you mean Vancouver? Or Örnsköldsvik, Sweden?
In general, hockey players are as big as celebrities get in Canada. I can assure you that the Sedin twins are recognized everywhere in Vancouver, and to a slightly lesser extent, anywhere else in Canada. Any Swedes or Vancouverites care to chime in? John

Sorry I meant their adopted home town. Vancouver is a great city.

Twins were hired by a sports team? Neat, has that ever happened before?

I found two other examples of twins on the same pro sports team. One from hockey, the other from women's professional basketball.
"Ferraro, Chris and Peter - (born Jan. 24, 1973) - NHL players who became first set of identical twins to play on same team when they each played for the New York Rangers during the 1995-96 season. They scored a combined 16 goals in their NHL careers" "Kelly Miller had almost given up on the idea of ever again playing on the same basketball team as her twin sister, Coco. Not since 2001 had the twins played together at the University of Georgia and sisterly reunions almost never play out in professional sports. But that all changed for Kelly Miller on Wednesday when the Atlanta Dream signed her to a two-year free-agent contract and re-signed Coco to a two-year deal." On the college level, I was at Syracuse when Paul and Gary Gait led the Orange to three national lacrosse championships in a row. I'm from Virginia, so I also remember Heidi and Heather Burge played basketball at the University of Virginia. |

The Sutter family of Viking, Alberta at one time had 6 sons playing in the NHL, including twins Ron and Rich. (Unfortunately, two of the brothers--Brent and Darryl--are no administratively ruining the Calgary Flames, but that's another story...)
Now the second generation of Sutters has two NHL players, both with Carolina. John

I was just going to mention them John. What a Christmas dinner THAT must have been!
Not only great players but on to coaching as well. Daryl was a Blackhawks coach for 10 or so years. I forget exactly how many. (Actually 4 of them played for the Blackhawks. Bill Wirtz had some sort of "Sutter fettish" I think.) The 7th brother (Gary) they all claim is far and away the best player stayed home because someone had to work the farm! What a junior hockey team that must have been.

I seem to recall my buddy saying that the Sedin twins' contract stipulates they can only be traded together as a unit.
