To the café’s Mentalism and NLP gurus,
Let me state from the outset, my upcoming show will be primarily for lower income audiences. Has anyone incorporated changework within a mentalism show? If so, how did you structure the show? I’ve read good reviews regarding James Tripp’s Hypnosis without Trance and Jamie Smart’s NLP Belief-Busting Sleight-of-Mouth Mastery home courses, moreover; I’ve thought about purchasing those aforementioned courses and incorporating those ideas within a mentalism show. Natural Mystic,
I believe we have PM'd each other about a routine you were working on and the resource you have is one of THEE best for what you want to do. Yes, of course, add more to it with what draws your interests and over time find a 'way' and specialize in something. Not many resources out there for mentalist and change workers combined...but, you do have some already. I 'switched' to this way of performing and it works for me. I have a passion for healing, transformation and creating an entertaining environment to impact people. Many resources from Magic and Meaning, The Magic Mirror by Robert E. Neale, and other resources write of days gone by where entertainment is used for healing or some form of perception shift to impact people and CHANGE LIVES. As I read these works, I get very excited for a form of entertainment that does this. For me, it is a calling. Something NOT to throw in as a part of your set...but your whole show is this, as it is an extension of you and your passion to help others. I have not checked out the above sites or youtube, but take what interests you have and find other resources OUTSIDE of the magic mentalism world and incorporate what you ALREADY know and form a show from it. Contact those people who inspire you and get to know them and what resources they read. Practice and develope YOUR WAY. I have learned much over a one year period and have reached a point where I will start my 'show' next year with what I have formed. Many people are excited to be offering something unique and different than other performing artists in my area. I keep this very small and do not socialize with many magicians and mentalist as this is not a show for them. To take what I am working on and do it at a restraunt table or in a show of magic would look out of place and overall hurt them and what I am doing. What I am doing is not better than what others do...it is just different. Take this call you have in your heart and follow it as a journey to discover what you love to do, what your passions are and then go into that world and come back with a unique vision that you will reveal to others who journey and have a blast doing it while making some funds along the way to provide. -Scott M |

If I hire an entertainer for an event an I ended up with a thinly veiled surmon, product ad, or Amway pitch, you can bet I would not be happy.

I don't blame you...hopefully the interview process would put this to a halt.
