The long awaited book "Essential T.U.C." has been released as a paperback book on LuLu.com under the name "T.U.C. Appreciation." It contains 74 effects described in a unique Step Learning format, 15 special Moves, 117 Sleights and 75 presentaion Concepts, plus a lot of note son innovation and special uses of the TUC that Mr. ango never envisioned. 358 pages in a large 8.5" sqaure format; with contributions from Tim Feher, Lawrence O, WIlliam Wartman, Aldo Columbini, Jonathan Townsand, Bruce Fenton,
Scott Guinn, Vinny Marini, Dave Neighbors, Fantasio and Bill Palmer who also edited this book. Also available as a Download. 10% discount for 2010 orders. Check lulu.com under funsway. The originally planned hard-bound volume will now be structured differently, with contributions from more magicians, notes from Tango Lectures and new effects not available at this printing. Simply put -- the possibilities for the TUC are too expansive for a single book. T.U.C. Appreciation can be considered a "what to do book," while the pending "Essential T.U.C." will be a "how to do" book heavier on the presentation side.

You did an awesome job Ken. Congratulations!!
Likewise to the contributors. There is a lot of creative thought here. The versatility of the T.U.C. has just taken an exponential leap.

Dear friend Funsway
I know that worked a lot to finish the book. Congratulations and thank you very much for that. |

Are the moves and sleights in the book illustrated?

Many Moves and Sleights have photos, but there is an assumption you have seen the Tango DVD. Other are explained in such detail that a photo seemed redundant. All Moves, Sleights and Concepts are cross-referenced with a master Appendix so that each action is only described once. A Preparation Description tells what Moves, Sleights and Subtleties will be used in the Effect before you get into the Presentation and Execution Steps. In this way you are not hunting for the description of a Sleight while attempting to understand/learn the action. Some Effects are building blocks used in other Effects.
The format developed with the help of Bill Palmer is similar to learning a musical instrument. First you learn to make notes, then cords and finally play tunes. Thus, fewer Photos are required.

Hi Ken!
I just purchased and downloaded the ebook version of "TUC Appreciation". I'll be getting the hardbound version also but I really need to get a little ways past Christmas first! I barely had time to browse through the ebook - I'm currently going through the PDF and setting up links from the Table of Contents and bookmarks - but I'm sure I have a lot of good reading ahead of me. Thanks for the effort. Looks like you have done an admirable job! Jim |
