Hopefully, this review will save someone else from wasting his/her money.
Effect (As described on Kevin James' site): "Wink" By Gaetan Bloom This is a very funny effect that took the country by storm during Gaetan’s lectures last year. There is lots of comedy potential with this prop. Effect: Shuffle a pack of cards and place two packets into the hypno-paddle. You ask Specky to cover one eye and stare at the other eye on the paddle. Move the cards one at a time from one packet to the other. The spectator tells you when to stop and you table that card. It is a completely free choice. You can do it 3 more times to reveal that he stopped you on the four aces!!! You can repeat it as often as you like. This is a fun and baffling way to force one or any number of cards. The method is just as much fun as the effect." Idea by Gaetan Bloom...sold by Kevin James...given a nice review by Mike Close in MAGIC. Slam dunk, right? Wrong! Nice idea, but it doesn't work. The paddle is too small (audience can see cards going from side to side - and they can see your hand doing something fishy). Bottom line - save your money. This is the most dissappointing thing I've received in a long time. Ron Reid |

I was wondering about this one. Every review I have read has been positive except for this one. Thanks for your honesty. Anyone else have an opinion on this one?

Wow...I couldn't disagree more! I've been using this for the last few months and getting EXCELLENT reactions. I saw Gatean use it at the IBM in San Diego and I know that he fooled more than a few knowledgeable folks in that room!
I might suggest giving it a little more time. If the cards are not loaded in properly or "the move" is done too haphazardly you may get a flash. |

Greetings,
While everyone has their opinion, I disagree with Ron. When Gaeton lectured at Hocus Pocus he knocked everyone for a loop with this one. It's very clever and will fool anyone watching it. He also had performed this at an A1 Convention a few years back, so when he brought this out I just smiled and watched reactions. I was lucky enough to get a set of lecture notes, so I knew how it worked. I talked with Gaeton for many hours during his stay with us, and he shared about 15 or 20 ideas that you could do with this prop. All of the ideas were very, very clever and practical. I have used this in performance many times and have never been "caught" or had anyone question hand movement. I use mine with ESP cards for a cool little mind reading effect. I'm not telling you to run out and buy this item, but I think if your looking for a neat little prop, you'll get a lot of use from, Wink.

This is very clever. I also did not know how it was done before I bought it

If you eliminate the actual performance and really study the prop, it just seems an impractical way of forcing a card.
$20 for a prop that forces a card or two or four?

Thanks for the honest review Ron. What would they invent to simply force a card?
