Hey guys and gals I could you some insight.
I know many of you own From Hell. I purchased one a few months ago. I asked Dan to hold the blood stain on the back so I could create my own ending, and he did. That was great. I was surprised that when I went through the stack of pictures that half of them had a different border at the bottom. Did that seem strange to anyone else? Does that make the method too obvious or am I running when I have not even been chased? Dan related that was just how they come. I would cut the bottom border off, but that would make the back of the card less attractive. Thanks for any input or thoughts, Doc |

I've never noticed it to be honest.

Hi Doc
I must admit in the 5 years that From Hell has been on the market and the thousands of copies I have sold not one person has ever noticed or questioned the issues you have bought up. What is printed on the actual card front or back is irrelevant to the routine as all the emphasis is on the actual photographs - taking this into account your audience will never question or notice this. You don;t give them the time to sit down and inspect the cards and even if you did they still would be clueless. The same effect can be performed with a stack of photo of which ALL can have different borders, sizes etc - it's the image on the card that the spectator is asked to look at and that is ALL they look at - if they are looking at the borders they still will have no clue to the method as the two different card designs are randomised throughout the deck. As Doc has requested though, any thoughts would be appreciated however, the deck in its current state will remain as it is - it's been tried and tested by some of the best bizarrists out there without a hitch. Dan comments have me concerned.
Given that I am one of the worst bizarrists I may not be as successful with the trick as the "best bizarrists." LoL!!! Dan, I am sorry that after thousands of sales I broke your record. In some way I feel honored to accept this award. I guess if it's not broke don't fix it and I will increase my dose of OCD medication. The Paxil goes well with milk. Thanks for the replies, Doc |

Hi Doc
Mine have differing borders, but the borders are not restricted to dead/alive - i.e. the presence of blood and the type of border are mutually exclusive. Perhaps you unconsciously separated the two borders out before making you own marking (didn't you say you didn't have blood on them in the usual way?) - if so,that's remarkable in itself! And BTW I guarantee you are NOT the worst bizarrist!! Steve

I'd have said the large blood stains usually draw peoples attentions rather than the borders. The odd time people have wanted to inspect it has been the fronts which interest them, as that is where the greater emotional connection is.

I am not a great performer but the times I have done FROM HELL , the response has been very positive.

Couldn't you use the different borders as a pseudo explanation as to why the specs were able to split the cards in to dead/alive. Kind of a subliminal messaging twist at the end. I know how you mentalists love giving fake reasons for things. Seems there's one possibility built in without even realising it's there.
Just a thought.

Try performing it for laypeople, they will be too blown away by the effect to want to analyse the borders.
I know many people that regularly perform From Hell and get an amazing response with it every time. |
