Hi guys.. I recently bought 4 of these chinese coins
http://themagicwarehouse.com/cgi-bin/fin......=CHINESE . The description of the item says that these are half dollar size but actually they are not.. They're a little bit smaller. I also don't feel very confortable when I classic palm them because of their edges.. So I ordered 4 of these http://themagicwarehouse.com/cgi-bin/fin......=CHINESE Could somebody who owns them give me some information? Thank you very much.

I have some of the tango coins from a few sets of theirs I bought. don't know about the shell but the coins feel solid. A little hefty, and they are relatively thick, a tiny bit less than two of my english penny's. That being said, they feel solid and sturdy, and are they same size as a half...give or take a thousandth!
I know what you mean about those other ones, I had one like that it came with my mirage set. Feels extremely light, and such rounded edges it was hard to hold in any type of palm. -Ben |

No problem. Only other think I would mention is that some of the edges of the coins or even the characters can snag on other coin edges if doing any three fly type of sliding. The dark area of the coins are a little bit more recessed. All in all though are solid and I don't have much trouble classic palming them. I wouldnt want to edge grip more than one or two max though. Using them for anything in particular?

If they have nice feeling in my palms I'm thinking of replacing the english pennies I use with them..
I also got the palms of steel 2 of Mr Kam, where he uses a lot of chinese coins.. And finally Dr Rubinstein has a GREAT routine using a silver, a copper and a chinese coin. And for this particular routine I need the chinese to have the same size with the other two..

Johnson's products also made(or make) regular Chinese coins: http://johnsonmagicproducts.com/shop/ind......s_id=118
You can find them in most of magic stores. They are half dollar size, really well made and very stuck! Not the best , perhaps, but during an entire life. |

Yea they don't feel that bad at all. Palms of steel two is pretty intense, what Rubinstein routine are you speaking of?

I seem to recall that Lassen had a bunch of Chinese coins in stock (Half and dollar size, with milled edges for proper gripping). I know it is a little pricy compared with what you were looking at, but they are pretty good. I have a couple dollar size that I have allowed to tone and they work great. I recommend that you call Todd (not email) if you want something specific and keep calling until you get him.

Benjie84, I have a CSB routine with no gaffs on volume 13 of the New York Coin Magic Seminar DVD series. Its a great routine, but I improved one phase, which I teach on one of the upcoming DVD's, which will be released in about a month. I also teach a followup CSB coins across. The chinese coin I use is a real one, that I got on E Bay. it is roughly 31 mm, and looks really good. I think the best coins are the real ones, not the ones you get from Johnson or the other gaff makers.
S.E.M. (The Sun, the Moon, and the Earth) is a sun and moon routine unlike any other. Limited to 100 sets, here is the promo:

Dr. Rubinstein the routine I'm talking about is called "Triple EG spell" and it's in NYCM vol 3. Actually I havent't yet bought vol 13 so I don't know what are you talking about..
Benjie first time I saw that routine, I lift of my chair, opened my mouth and said what the f.... happened here...

Hey mago, I think I know the routine, its a real quick one. I think I have seen it in Richard Almanac if I am correct? If that's the one then its pretty diabolical. I want to put that together into a longer spellbound, just trying to figure out how to routine it!

That's going to be very difficult but sure it's going to worth it.. If you use this routine as a "grande finalle" consider that before that, you will have to vanish and place them to the right position so you can move on.. I'll send you a pm..

Yes, its in volume 3, and first appeared in Richard's Almanac, my apologies. Reed McClintock used that routine as a beginning for a longer routine, but I don't remmeber where he published it. I think it was in his knucklebusters series. For that routine, the chinese coin has to be slightly smaller than the penny. I used the Johnson chinese coin for that one when I first came up with it. Back then, there weren't a whole lot of choices, and E Bay and computers didn't exist yet (really!).

The problem that I have is that the chinese coin I use rigth now is quite smaller than the other two.. So if I place it in the middle of the stack I can't release them one by one..
So now I'm practicing the routine with 3 half dollars and waiting for the new one to arrive..
