Hey Guys!
In September 2010, I performed a free show for Gilda's Club for their Grand Opening. Gilda's Club is a Free Cancer Support Group http://www.gildasclubbarrie.org/ They were looking for entertainers, and asked my price. after researching what they were all about, I came back to them and said I'd love to come volunteer, and not take any money away from your organization. I loved doing the show, It was a lot of fun, and a great turn out. I'd like to volunteer, and help raise money for them this year. I'd like idea's on what I could do. the one thing I wanted to do was hold an event at thier club, and sell tickets to put on a magic show, and all proceeds goes to Gilda's club. but unfortunately we are unable to hold the event there. I'd have to find my own venue. so say I do find a venue that will help support this event... how do I go about selling tickets? how much? what if it doesn't turn out big numbers? the other Idea was to sell tickets to a draw of a free magic show? or do balloon sculpting at a volunteered event, and any donations welcome and all go to Gilda's Club? any other idea's I'd really appreciate it. I just met with the Lady in charge of these events today, and we are excited to think of something to help support. Thanks in advance

You should always get paid. You can donate the money back if you would like.

I disagree that magicians should always get paid. If someone wants to donate their time to a charitable cause, they should be free to do so (no pun intended). I don't perform for free where others at the event (e.g., caterers, musicians, etc.) are not donating their services, though, or where my free performance might cost a working pro the gig (since they're the ones who have helped teach me what I know!).

MagicalDuda don't do a draw just sell the tickets, try and get another 2 magicians on board then you can make it a longer night of Magic
Magic or just an illusion? it's a free choice .... isn't it?
