There are many great versions of this trick. Anyone care to share their choice for doing this trick?
I like Daryl Easton's version called 'Jumping Jacks'. The write up- 'The four jacks are placed face up on the table and each is covered with three extra cards from the deck. One packet is placed in the spectator's pocket for safekeeping. One at a time, the spectator causes the remaining three Jacks to magically vanish from the table. Each Jack is clearly seen until the very moment before it vanishes. In a surprise finish, the spectator removes all four Jacks from his own pocket!' You end clean and all is examinable, which may appeal to less experienced people that have steered clear of this type of trick because it uses gaffs out in the open and they are worried about getting caught. |

I used a sequence cobbled together from different sources, including the Garcia manuscript from stars of magic, but recently I have been using the version from John Guastaferro, vino aces (wich I misspelled as wino aces when he was guest of honor ) and end the performance by producing a wine bottle from a balloon (splash bottle).
The reason for using this particular routin is that it is visual for a larger audience (can be done with bigger cards but good luck finding suitable glasses)and I also like the switching in of the gaffs. Mikael Johansson Sweden

My own. One that I developed myself that fits me. All stuff from the literature and stuff most people on this forum have seen before, just in a different sequence. 4 different productions of the aces, 3 different changes. I perform it very rarely, usually casually for friends, and normally to music. Often, it's Coltrane's "My Favorite Things."
Other than mine, my favorite would be the one featured on Doc Eason's bar magic DVDs. It contains bits from Scotty York, Allan Hayden, (BRILLIANT) and John Mendoza. |

Emile Clifton had a great version called "Startled". Pete Biro wrote it up and it is available through Stevens Magic.

Neil Lester (Cards by Martin) did sell this too. It was just one sheet and it was/is great!

I purchased a copy of Emile Clifton's "Startled" from Mr. Lester several, several months ago and had been spoken very highly of on The Board. That being said, Has anyone ever done a youtube presentation of "Startled" on the web? I just wanted to ensure I was preforming it with proper respect.
Thanks, allen |

I obtained the rights from Neal Lester for Clifton's "STARTLED" and published it in the book on Clifton. I also performed this on TV and you an see it at http://www.petebiro.com (It suffers a bit by the director making a cut or two that I wasn't happy with, but the basic routine is there.) To find it clik on "Pete's on TV" and scroll to "Pete's Card Act." It begins with Don Alan's Big Deal, and winds up with "STARTLED."

I have done the same basic handling that I learned from Johnny Thompson years ago; the presentation itself has changed over the years.
I also am a huge fan of Bro. John's Final Aces. In my opinion, that's the strongest version out there. Martin Lewis's Magician's Poker is a very neat version of this as well. Rick
