Hello everyone!
I am writing my Honors Thesis on media coverage of magic throughout history. As part of the study, I'm sampling entertainment news about David Copperfield in 1983. So far I've found some good archival news articles on David, but due to the visual quality media communication took in 1983, I am looking for archival television news coverage (and radio news coverage) on David in 1983. I have not had any luck in my search so far for said footage. Does anyone know where I could find the footage online? Or...does anyone have the footage on tape? |

Your local library should have newspaper archives. You could google DC & Statue of Liberty and find the exact date he did it, that was a big event for him and everyone else that year.
ABC was the station that aired it (pretty sure) so you might be able to contact ABC for footage or information. Contact Chris Kenner (David's right hand man)and see if he can provide any information. He is a busy man so be curtious and polite if you expect to get any response! His info might be available on theroy11.com, he is on twitter and on facebook. Contact Cathy Daly through the Copperfield website or even post the question you asked here on the Copperfield forums. google.com / select videos/ enter David Copperfield TV - that should bring up some older footage. And my last suggestion. Contact S.A.M. (Society of American Magicians), they have old footage for sure. Good Luck!
