Hi, I use John Archers brilliant effect "Collared" in my children's magic shows. I find a lot of the time the gimmick sticks and will not slide out!!. Does anyone else have this problem or a solution?. Thanks in advance for any replies, also what has happened to the Café search bar?, it has magically disappeared.

I agree the old search engine was better.

Not sure I can help much, as my gimmick always slides out fine. I did notice, though, that when I first got mine, it had a rough spot which aI filed down, since I didn't want it to "catch" in sliding out. If it's not this, the only other thing I can think of might be that you need a larger area for the gimmick to come out of so it doesn't get stcuk.

Using a small file or cutting tool with a sandpaper bit, make the disks load chamber a bit bigger by taking some of the edges off. Once the chute is bigger the disk should slide out just fine.
Who has a great resource for the oteher thing that makes the effect work??? S. Patrick |

Magicmonty: Mine always works fine! Try moisturizing or lubricating a little bit the slot for easy slide of the gimmick!

This has been discussed (elsewhere) as I had exactly the same problem. Fortunately someone had found the perfect solution. Instead of using the supplied "special paper" (I beleive it's some dress makers paper?) Use Saral Transfer paper (make sure you get it in white):
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Saral-Wax-Free-Tra......b2e96ea0 It gives a much better impressions and there are no sticking problems. Also, if you did want to carry on using the dressmakers stuff John recommends attaching black paper to the disk. This works as well. Mark |

However, when I have used it people are usually stunned. John Archer is brilliant. I was glad to see he did so well on the Penn and Teller TV programme. Mark |

I've been using it for the past year for family and adult audiences. It's a great effect. Entertaining and a real fooler.
Thanks for the link to the Saral paper. I too was having problems with that.
