I want to share with everyone a BIG success I've had this summer. I was booked to do a series of shows/workshops for the local science museum here in Phoenix, Arizona. I've had the optical effect, "Growing and Shrinking Head" that I bought from Bruce Kalver a couple years ago, but never used it.
Well, I tried it out this summer, not expecting much, but was AMAZED at the reaction. Consistently, this was the hit of the show...TREMENDOUS reaction each time. I'm talking about that roar of "OHHHH" and "AHHHHH" when you do something very impressive. Anyway, if someone is looking for a dynamite routine to add to his/her show, this is it. One observation though: It doesn't work real well with the small kids, say 5 years and younger. 6 and up love it. Ron Reid |

I purchased this effect many many years ago, and have used it successfully many times. Not for kids, but adults really like it. I have even used it at work while doing manufacturing training classes. People really get a kick out of it. It is one of the few effects that you can repeat a number of times. It's funny, it seems there are always a few in the crowd that just don't see the illusion. You can spot them by the puzzled look on their faces. Everyone else is amazed, shocked, and excited, but those few look really confused.

Is this similar to bucket head?

Hi Keeblem:
No, it's completely different from Buckethead. The Shrinking and Growing Head is a large disk that looks like a hypno-disk. You spin it around (I have mine hooked to a cordless drill) while the audience looks at the center of it for about 30 seconds. You have them look at your nose, and it appears as though your head is growing or shrinking, depending on which way you spin the disk. That's all there is to it. Also, I just found out that Denny and Lee now carry it for about 20 bucks. I just love it! Ron Reid |

It is a great optical effect that can be done for the entire audience. It really gets everyone involved in it and a lot of repsonse when it happens.
I have seen Bruce do this many times and it always gets a great reaction from crowds. It is really a fun bit of business.

I'm glad I found this thread, been looking for this effect to open my hypnosis shows with. I've seen it performed multiple times and it is always with great effect.

I have used this effect for awhile now, the only difference is that I use an audience member and make their head big and then I make their head smaller. I also use music, which I purchased from Barry Mitchell specially made for this illussion.

Frank just go to Barry Mitchell's website and type in or look for BIG HEAD Illussion Music. He sells the music and a carrying bag for the effect for around $ 10.00 or so.

Yes, great item. Don't buy the electric device they offer to drive it though. Piece of junk. Use a B&D electric screw driver.
I like the idea of the plastic one. I keep mine in a pizza box. John |

Yes it is Royalty FREE and with the Music Purchase you also receive a nice made bag for the illussion. It is made really good and it was specially made for the Big Head Illussion. Yes! please purchase the plastic one and not the cardboard. I purchased my Cordless Screwdriver at Wal-mart for $ 8.88. Make sure you purchase the one that is battery operatedand not AC.
