To all Beginers in Magic:
I too am a beginer and have ordered many packet tricks including Paul Harris's Deep Astonishment and Reality Twister, Lubor Fiedlers Ultimate Restoration and Roentgen Box and many more. I have owned these tricks and was very pleased with my purchases, however, These effects did not motivate me to go out and perform. Today I have been practicing the card manipulation basic "producing cards" and must say, after about 4 hours ( 2 movies ) of constant finger twitching I am very pleased with the result. The reward is most satisfying once accomplished! I guess you could say it feels like solving a hard quest in a video game. Everyone knows how rewarding that is once you work out how to solve the puzzle. Well I have worked out how to produce cards and I am really inspired to learn more sleight-of-hand and put more work into all tricks I own now. It was really weird, it just hit me and now I'm hooked to master more moves. I guess the old saying "master before perform" really does have a subconscious affect. It just hit me...I'm so happy! I want to just go out and perform and show it off to everyone. But I wont...of course, until a lot more aching finger cramps. So, if any new magicians want a quick hit of inspiration, learn how to produce cards and you will get the "hit" I got! Trust me, it's changed my vision on magic all together. Regards, Sam Griffin

I am learning from a couple of books, First "The Ultimate Card Trick Book" by Eve Devereux and, "Start A Craft Magic Tricks" by Peter Eldin.
I actually have never heard of these artists names before. I'm learning out of these untill I can order the McBride AOCMDVDs. Can't wait! Regards, Sam Griffin

Glad to hear it. These kinds of things come every once in a while and add greatly to the joy of being involved with magic.
People will often ignore books aimed at basics either because the author may not have name recognition or we get interested in getting the latest book or trick. That's a trap. Don't fall for it.

Great, well once you get AoCM you will have enough to play with for years. Stick with it, mastering manipulation is one the most demanding things you can do with a deck of cards. Also, it is one of the most personally rewarding.
