If you have to paint small boxes and props, there is a really nice finish called "Design Master" that is available at places like Michael's. It is a rapid drying spray paint.
They even have some wood finishes. If you live in a humid climate, avoid their "Triple Thick Gloss Finish." It doesn't fare well in humidity above about 65% or so.

Bill, what is the effect of this "Design Master" spray paint? Shinny? Is it available in clear or just colors?
