Cultures that don't have the same twig up your ass, prudish, up tight, close minded attitude towards sex as many in north america do, have far LESS "troubles" with the young being "too" sexual.

For me the problem is youngsters being "too" sexual is not having the street smarts to deal with the twisted folk in our society. Of course I totally admit to being a fully enculturated member of a sex negative society, so that may have a lot to do with my feelings on the subject. I think that in a society such as ours, where sex is repressed and distored as it is, the culture as well as the marketing that takes advantage of the culture can cause real problems in otherwise harmelss activities.

Of course, correlation/causation, but there certainly seems to be a frequent correlation between the repression of something, and the, often violent, rebelling.

1. You have no idea how sexually open I am.
2. Why does that make it OK for a 12 year old to do it, unless... 3. You're defending pedophilia, which... 4. Doesn't surprise me.

Not to throw facts into the make believe here, BUT:
The Japanese frown heavily upon any form of PDA. It is illegal to show pubic hair in Japanese pornography. Maybe, juuuust maybe, the heavy violence content in their pornography is a by-product of their sexual repression. And juuuust maybe, the low incidence of sexual crime has something to do with Japan's 99+% conviction rate. So juuuuust maybe, suicide and pedophilia are both still wrong. I said it before, I won't talk to you if you don't point your venom at me.

The game described had nothing to do with implying that behavior was acceptable, and was merely showing the extremes to which their "fantasies" are common to go. As for the "restrictive" nature in japan towards sex, yeah, there are some dumb laws, like not showing pubic hair, one of those stupid outdated regulations that end up a mere formality. How about the fact that toplessness is all over the television there? I was 8 when I lived in japan. We'd be visiting someone's house, and I'd be playing games with their kids, and the tv would be on. The kids didn't even notice it. Was a good bit of a shock for me when I looked up to see the show consisted of about 30 topless women chasing 1 guy. Yeah, very sexually repressed culture. "Maybe, juuuust maybe, the heavy violence content in their pornography is a by-product of their sexual repression." If that were true, as I'm sure you know, fantasizing is not where that stops. It never remains enough. As for my "venom," I wasn't pointing any of it at you. To be honest, I didn't even realize I was responding to a post you made. The snide remarks about the up tightness of some was directed at Carrie. Just as it was the last time I made similar comments in the thread. Critter, I NEVER said suicide was good, or right. I also apologized for saying anything to upset you, and stated that was never my intention. I acknowledged that, whatever my intentions, they were irrelevant because I had clearly upset you. I never meant to bring up, or directly attack any personal event. I made a mistake by mixing my comments pertaining to the event you brought up, with my comments pertaining what I think should, or should not be handled by government. I've tried to clarify this plenty of times. There is a distinct difference between thinking, say, a drug should be legal, and thinking it's a good thing for people to use said drug. I was only trying to express that I have found such laws and regulations to be, in the end, far more harmful than helpful. Of course, that is, as I said, irrelevant, as it does not change that I upset you. I just want to clarify that I have no "venom" towards you, or your friend, the same as I have no desire for people to do cocaine.

"The Kings Speech" was given a 12A rating in England, children under 12 with an adult were allowed in. The f word is used 15 times, in a historical context. (although the "history" in the film is a bit fudged)

That was a weird side track, I clearly missed a previous relevant thread.
On that topic, I think there is a difference between 'sexuality' and 'sexualization.' Young children have sexuality, I don't think anyone with kids can deny that and it's a good and healthy thing. However the sexualization of kids (in my own personal opinion) is not. I have never been to Japan, but I have heard horror stories about the amount of sexual crime that is not reported and is implicitly or explicitly condoned. I've this first and second hand. I've heard similar stories from America of course too, but just sayin'.
