I started palming coins as a nervous tick.
It became a challenge at work. Operate the computers and electronics with a coin palmed. Walk around with four coins in the position. It is also worth taking the advice here and going back to the classic books. Finally, the one thing I haven't seen said outright, is to learn your hand's natural position. It's not flat. Nor is it an unruly claw. Lift your arm so that your hand raises off of your mouse or keyboard. Look at your hand. Seeing your hand in its natural state might take some of the fear off of your efforts. |

Obviously it depends on the size of your hands, but I'd start with a large coin, not a small one. I can palm any size coin, but I've just made the interesting discovery that I can do a couple of things with old English pennies - about half-dollar size - that I can't do with the largest current UK coin (£2). In particular, with pennies I can palm a stack of four and drop them one at a time (though I need more practice!). This just doesn't work for me with smaller coins.
I also suffer from dry hands. In pharmacists here you can get a glycerine and rose water solution which dries quickly and leaves your hands slightly tacky. But it's very runny and can easily get on the carpet! I may see if I can get glycerol. Barry |
