The dumplings thread (and included link) lead me to a short wikisurfing session, where I remembered some of the traditional full breakfasts I've enjoyed from various cultures.

Examples- the English breakfast (love that blood sausage), Irish breakfast (good all around), Japanese breakfast (fish is an enjoyable choice of breakfast meat)... I'll skip "Continental" breakfasts- they're disappointing. I guess I'm just used to that adjective describing size, which, in this case, is completely wrong.

However, my favorite is still the good ol' American country-fried steak and gravy, with eggs, toast, and hash browns. Perfect for a hard day's work on the farm... sadly, I work in an office, where the perfect breakfast is fruit and Grape Nuts.

What's your favorite traditional breakfast- or other traditional breakfasts you've enjoyed?

Make that chicken-fried, and you've got my favorite breakfast of all time.

But what do I usually eat? One or two slices or toast or a donut.

There is no cooked breakfast on earth which can hold a candle to the Ulster Fry.

Stone- chicken-fried and country-fried are fairly synonymous where I come from.

I'm salivating, and my arteries are hardening, just from looking at the pictures.

Right. But not in Texas, where God is from.

Ah, now I see the difference between chicken and country: deep fried versus pan fried. Gimme deep-fried. So unhealthy, but sooooo tasty. Used to have it every Sunday at brunch after church- my family liked going out for breakfast then.

I have enjoyed the ol' steak and eggs often.
Runny eggs on toast is good.
My standard breakfast on non-school days is a seriously twisted version of the classic porridge which I call my "Power Porridge."
It consists of Irish Oatmeal, Wheat Germ, Milk, 2 whole eggs, molasses, melted peanut butter, cinammon, and honey.

It all depends, variety is a wonderful thing. Sometimes nothing but Huevos rancheros hits the spot for me.

Stone, I seem to recall your comments on the question about America most asked by your students. I think we've found the answer.
