I was just wondering. Do you think that the magic that we practice and perform today would work on an alien with a different brain to a human? A lot of magic is based the way that humans perceive things and have the ability to ignore things, see things that weren't there, miss things that are there, the list goes on.

The bang wand might be threatening.
The rabbit in the hat might be perceived as food. The person performing might be perceived as a "witch doctor" of the culture. They might relate to a specific "pass" developed by Axfregotza, 12 hundred centries eariler.

Yeah, but when that sixth finger meets your sixth finger you KNOW you just made a friend.

All life, and magic is based on the way we perceive things.
All experience is based on the way we perceive things. The awareness and ability we have as human beings may be a joke to other species. Then again...we may be fooling ourselves.

Why is it that the aliens are always assumed to be so much more intelligent than us? Maybe (if they DO exist--I personally don't buy it) they're really stupid and we are super-geniuses to them. Maybe some guy from earth invented time travel and went into the future and learned how to make space ships and went to another planet where he could reign as king of the world, and that's the only reason these morons even HAVE space ships...
Maybe eating with a fork would be a MIRACLE to them!

I think the common assumption is based on the fact that if aliens come here then they have the technology that we do not have and so must be superior intellectually. I do believe other life is out there somewhere because the universe is so large that the odds are favourable.

Whatever you do, don't show them Jim Pace's Alien Autopsy trick or we're all in "deep trouble".
I've being doing a mental double act with Vrim Grinnnnox from Proteus 4 for the past 12 months and since his race is telepathic it cuts out all the practice. Paul Hallas |

Hey Paul say hi to Ol' Vrim for me. Take it from me, NEVER gamble with him. That whole telepathy thing gives him quite the advantage.

If he is an alien and interested in magic
would that make him a Cardician or a Cardacian ? and perform Warp? Of course, they shed their scaly skins and make a Cocoon, turning into Wooly Cardigans This is getting silly... StarTrek TNG nerds only, need reply this. |

Well, as long as the alien
-doesn't have better (faster) eyes than a human -have heat sense (can sense whats in your hand etc...) -has eyes at all to see the trick -doesn't have hearing good enough to hear you getting a pinky break while you are talking and setting off some explosives. -has the same metabolic rate as us, or atleast similar. Basically, will it be able to respond to things as fast as us? If it is significantly faster don't even bother triying to trick it with misdirection, it will be able to glance back and forth before you complete the movement, if its too slow it may not be able to keep up with the trick. |
