I have the wand needle holder for my needle thru balloon. After several years it has started to run "dry". What do you guys you to "recharge" the holder?

I just force feed vaseline thru the small opening in the top of the wand and push it down with the needle. I've had two wands in my life. The first one ran dry after a year or so and I broke off the tip to reload it and tried to super glue it back. Looked like #$&@ so I tossed it out and bought a new one.
Been using this one for easily 15 years and no issues....

Thanks man. Sounds good to me. I have a syringe I will fill up with vaseline and inject it into the hole. I bet that will work really well.

I gave up on vaseline a long time ago
I just wet my fingers and run them down the wand I also tend to twist the needle as it goes into the balloon which stops it sticking. I used to have a little trouble with too much vaseline ending up around the hole in the balloon, so this alleviates that problem as well. |

Does anyone have any suggestions for removing the vaseline from the needle-wand?

If you buy the vasiline lip tupe you can use it to fill the wand easily. line up the holes and squeeze.

I have 4 of these wands, and they all have an easy-to-remove cork. I just squirt the vaseline in. Prior to my show, I remove the needle and wipe it gently with a paper towel - it works just fine from that point on.

Ummm... I'd use a silicone grease.. for the same reason you don't use vaseline during intimacy with a con&@m... you shouldn't use vaseline with your wand.
These balloons are latex.. and have more chance of breaking with vaseline.. Silicone grease (should be available at any auto supply store) will do the same thing.. and won't rot your balloon while in use! |

I tend to agree with makeupguy. I have given up on vaseline and found silicone to work better on the latex. It creates less friction on the needle and rarely do I have any problems with the penetration.

If I could get the vaseline out I'd buy another lubricating needle for the needle thru balloon, and kep my current one as a "dry storage/carry unit" for the comedy bit.

After reading makeupguys pot I had to check and make sure I was in the little darlings area. LOL I never even really thought about the wand running out of lubricant. I have to get mine out of the closet and find out if it is still lubed up. I like the idea of the silicone lube being used I will have to check that out too.

I've never had an issue with using vaseline, seems perfect to me. Though a lot of the balloons I've bought over the years haven't had a "sweet spot", and were useless.
Surely, the idea is that the cork removes most of the vaseline as you remove the needle, and it's good to go? |

Potty,
(From one of my lectures.)Pinch the end of the balloon as you blow it up. When you let go it creates a sweet spot. I never buy special balloons. Just clear ones from the part supply. |

I read somewhere that not all balloons are created equal in that they might not be made from latex and that latex is the balloon of preference for NTB. Commenting on the vaseline vs silicone, I think I'll switch to silicone. I stopped using NTB because of embarrassing failures. Never even thought it could be the vaseline. Will have to dig it out and give it a try again. As for my needle wand loaded with vaseline, I guess that would give one reason to clean it out as questoned above, eh?
What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about?
My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums. |
