I just posted on my blog about yesterday's Google doodle with Houdini. It seems when you click it in the right area, it will open to a Houdini animation. Here is the link:

Thanks John. I mentioned yesterday on my blog that it looked suspicious. The poor troll had his 5 seconds in the sun.

I'm just wondering if The Bennington Vale Transcript got had by a troll or if they created the name and hoax themselves?

That very well could be. It wouldn't be the first time the media created a story.

Unvetted claims of that kind pretty much put them on the "parody-humor" (at best) side of context as far as I'm concerned. Guess they're Lake Woebegon's website of wonders.

This makes too much sense. I was also playing around with the doodle to see if anything would happen, on the day when Google had it live.
The fact that no one backed it up with pictures or any kind of video was reallying annoying me, too. As did the fact that only one person saw it: I follow several marketing news sources who fawn over nearly every action Google makes. The author BC Bass looks like he might be willing to publish just about anything. That site also carries the only English Language "news" story of Senator Lugar blaming Obama's nicotine withdrawal for his actions in Libya. I reported the site to Google News as being "incorrectly labeled," and suggested in my notes that it may be a satire site. If anyone else is feeling the urge for whatever reason, the report link is at: http://www.google.com/support/news_pub/b......ent&rd=2 |

You're right, AndrewJ. It appears the site is a "satire" site. It would help if they were actually funny. Also Google really shouldn't have this aggregated as a legit news source. I've also registered a complaint with them. Thanks for the link.
