Thanks... but not what I was looking for... I'm looking for a type of breakaway wand which breaks into two halves... one of which spins windmill style on the end of the other when it breaks. I had one years ago in Britain ( I think I bought it at a convention) and it was great, and now I can't find one anywhere!

Supreme Magic made them, and I haven't seen one for years.
The one I had purchased new from Supreme broke the rubber bands almost immediately. It would be hard to make with the pins, slot, and rubber band holder. I hope you find it. If I find mine, I will let you know.

You could use a david ginn fishing pole wand to make a 'propeller' type of effect

For those of you who have never seen a Windmill wand, it was a regular size wand that broke in half. It had 2 little pins that fit into holes that held it together and a groove cut the length of half of the wand where the rubber bands went. You then twisted the wand and the rubber bands would wind up and then you stuck the pieces together.
When the child held the wand you pulled a little to release the outside end and the rubber bands would flip that end of the wand sideways (making a "T") and the wand would spin like a windmill.
