I have an Abbott style Modern Cabinet that I'd like to donate to an up and coming performer. It was one of the first illusions I performed when I got into stage illusions. It has seen a lot of use but still looks good and works great. I have all of the necessary cloths needed to perform the standard "Things That Go Bump" routine as well some spare fabric for the interior of the cabinet. The cabinet packs down flat but doesn't have a case or crate.
I remember what it was like being a young performer wanting to get into illusions and having no idea where to start let alone how to start without having the money most stage illusions cost. I was fortunate to have a father who had fabrication skills and helped me build my show from scratch. I'm offering to give away my Modern Cabinet to an up and coming stage performer who doesn't have a lot of financial resources and is working hard on their stage performing career. If you feel this is you please send me an e-mail to office@billblagg.com and tell me your story. Bill |

Keep the letters coming. I won't be making a decision until a few weeks from now in order to give those who want a shot a chance to write in.

Your unselfish offer brings to mind an ending I give at my community volunteer speeches in mental health. I'll try to be brief.
A man who was dying was given a last wish. Do you want to go to heaven or would you like to go to hell. Since this man lived most of his life on the edge, he wanted to experiment with a journey to hell. When he arrived, he saw a big ugly rusted gate, not the pearly one we hear about in heaven, and the smell was awful, like burning flesh. At that moment two giant gates opened to reveal a large room with a very long table with chairs facing each other on both sides of the table. At that very moment, two large gates opened at the far end of the room. Walking through the doorway were men, women, and children. They looked depressed and they were emaciated with their skin just hanging on their bones. Their eyes were sunken back into their heads and their hair was matted and dirty. The man noticed immediately that the long table was filled with mounts of food, every kind of food you could possibly think of. I forgot to mention that each one of them had fixed arms, unable to bend them. As they sat down facing each other over the large mounds of food, a small bell was heard and they began the task of trying to feed themselves. As they reached across the table and grabbed at the food and tried to get it into THEIR mouths with absolutely no success, but they kept trying. The man said, take me to heaven, this is disgusting. As the man arrived in heaven, he first noticed the large pearly gates. The smell was a sweet lingering fragrance of roses and life. As the gates opened, the man noticed the same things that he witnessed in hell. Same table, same chairs, same mounds of food and as he was observing, the doors opened from the far end of the room. Coming into his view were men, women, and children. Their arms were also outstretched and stiff. The man immediately wondered why they looked different than the people in hell. These folks were smiling, exchanging pleasant gestures and looked to be the epitome of health and happiness. As they sat down facing each other, the small bell was heard to begin the feast. As they reached towards the mounds of food, they picked it up and reached across the table and fed the person sitting across from them. THANK YOU ALL FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ THIS AND PERHAPS WE CAN ALL REACH OUT TO SOMEONE SOMEWHERE AND MAKE THAT SMALL DIFFERENCE IN THEIR LIFE. |

I just read this thread and am in awe of Bill Blagg III for his random act of kindness and of Pambalini's story. In my entire life I don't think I'm met a kinder lot of folks than in the magicians whose paths I've crossed with.
What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about?
My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums. |
