Roger, where did you saw the wallet? Can the shop be reached via e-mail?

They seem like a good bunch and were very keen to help out any magicians who might like the cases. They're perfect for what we need for carrying around a few gaffs/packet tricks - but don't get one if you just want an aluminium wallet that does what a wallet does. |

They also have those new aluminum wallets you see on T.V. in Walgreens stores. I'm wondering if those are big enoph to hold cards. They have a lot of slots for credit cards and photos.

I finally broke down and picked up the large size from an ebay seller for about $40. The wallet is nice, but the closure apparatus and the inside pockets seem a bit delicate. I suppose it's all in how you handle (or take care of) it. I loaded it with multiple combinations of cards, and it seems to comfortably hold four card stacks in the center 5 pockets, with 1 or 2 cards in each of the end pockets. If I left the end pockets empty then I was able to hold a few more cards in the five center pockets. The key is being able to close the wallet without too much stress on the closure apparatus. The hard shell exterior is what makes it nice, so no more bent packets and gaffs.

Hello,
Sorry to bring up an old topic. I saw aluminum wallets in Walmart yesterday that were called Aluma-Wallet XL. The reason that I mention these is that they are $12.95 at our Walmart and they are 25% larger than the normal aluminum credit card protectors. I tried one of the normal ones and it would fit bridge cards but not poker size cards. These larger ones would fit poker size cards. I didn't buy one myself, but just giving a heads up to anyone interested. They were in a free-standing cardboard display in the men's clothing section. |

Quote: This case is 4.5 inches x 3.5 inches. Should be big enough for poker size cards. Looks like it's made by Ögon, based on the logo on the front. Copy says it's Swedish designed and made in France. On 2011-04-15 13:20, rochaz wrote:

That looks like the dimensions for the ones in Walmart. From the original post with the link, I thought it was talking about the smaller ones, which the company is also trying to sell. Back when the original post was made, it may have been pointing at these smaller ones. It may also not have been at the reduced price listed on the ad now. This is even cheaper that Ögon go for on ebay. If they are Ögon(as you say, that appears to be what the logo would suggest),then the probable additional quality might be worth the expense.
Out of curiosity I tried to go through their check-out just now and it wouldn't let me give a quantity and said that I had ordered all that they had, even though I hadn't ordered any. They may be completely out, or there may be a glitch with their website. |

There's a note at the end of the copy that says the item was discontinued and that when it sells out that would be the end.
Did you specify a color when you ordered? Here a link to the Ögon site: http://www.ogondesigns.com/en/portefeuilles.php

Yes I did. I was just going through the checkout to see what shipping might be. I was just mentioning that even though they list the wallets at a reduced price, they seem to actually no longer be offering them. I would actually be more likely to hold some business cards and supplies for mentalism in a smaller one that I already have.
The Ögon wallets are probably nicer than the XL ones I saw at Walmart, but cost about 4 times as much with shipping. If I do decide that I need to carry poker sized gimmicks I will probably just stick to the Walmart wallets. I will also mention that just in testing the one that I have, they are as hard as the sound like they would be when you sit on them, so would work better in a jacket than a back pocket, at least for me. |

Just thought I would post a link to the one that Wal-Mart carries. They have two sizes--the smaller will not hold poker cards, but they have an XL size that will.
I found them in my local Wal-Mart for $12.88 plus local tax. However, they were not in the men's clothing, but instead on a rack of various products labeled "as seen on TV"--stuff like chop-o-matics, gold lens sunglasses, and the like. There are seven inside pockets, and I could easily get up to around a half a deck in the one I got. The whole thing is basically plastic with a hard aluminum shell. The lock did not look particularly flimsy, but only time will tell how well it will hold up. Anyway, here is a link to where you can order them on-line in the US: http://www.alumawalletxl.com/ Shipping jacks the price up to about $20, but for and extra $5 "handling", you can get two. If you only want one, you are better off getting them from Wal-mart and paying local sales tax, but if you want two, buying them on-line might save a few dollars. Cheers

I might order one of these, it's 5 dollars plus shipping (free if you have Amazon Prime).
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0052UI......052UI9MY You can't choose the color though, just be aware. It shouldn't matter TOO much for me because I would never whip one of these out in front of a spectator. I DO want one for packet trick storage, as I have too many baggies, envelopes, and plastic wallets floating about. Also, it will keep the cards clean and safe/organized. I'll report back if I get one...

@loyaleagle: I assume those will be too small to hold poker size cards :/
That's the reason I jumped when I saw John Bannon pull out his wallet! It could fit multiple packets, with segmented compartment. Hence the query I made here |

Qureyoon is correct. The one on Amazon is too small to hold playing cards and is designed for credit cards only. That's why you need to find one with the larger dimensions. The small cases are very common and cheap as dirt because there are so many on the market. They all are long enough, but are not wide enough. A standard credit card is only 2 and 3/16th inches wide while a Poker card is almost 2 and 1/2.
The larger cases are in excess of 3 and 1/4th inches wide, which allows them to hold playing cards However, previously the larger cases had proved harder to find. After seeing the one that Bannon used, I had hunted both locally--including Wal-Mart and on-line without any luck. This was maybe 5 or 6 months ago. Then I saw this thread and the post by mindexplorer, who had found the bigger XL size at Wal-Mart, I hopped in the car and went to check it out. I'm sure the Alumiwallet is simply a mass market knock off of the one made by Ogon, but without having both in hand I have no way to compare the quality. Cheers
