Well Salazar you can hire me and Nicholas to be what I like to call the Magic Mafia. You pay us and if the kid gets out of hand.. well then lets just say the kid goes POOF! I think there might be a real need for this service. What do you think ?

Yeah, I've always wanted to look off to the back of the house and yell, "Security!"

The thing is, at that age, if they THINK they know how ot works (and because of ego, they will), it's hard to convince them otherwise.

A few group participation exercises (paper folds/tears etc.) can provide a great "out" in bad situations. It doesn't even have to be magic. Give them a few minutes to talk and gradually you can retake control of your situations. Failing that, you "could" always resort to peer pressure. A couple of fooler effects where they think you are teaching them only to have a surprise outcome can also come in quite handy. Turn it into a magical game where they don't know where the magic is going to happen. You can also "hire" a couple of the older kids to be security guards and hold a rope barrier.

Evan, I disagree. I think any trick can fool a person of any age if given the right presentation. Or maybe my audiences are all lieing to me and telling me they are amazed.
Edd Visit the Wizard of Sorts at http://www.wizardofsorts.com HI, I have to say i dissagree, I think that any trick can be made entertaining through presentation. but a poor trick(non fooling method) is still a poor trick Phillip |

Thumbs up for Nicholas and Phillip. Because I look at a professional presentation is not for one person in the audience. The magician must focus on everyone trying to keep them entertained. A spectators mind could be thinking anything while others are thinking something else.
Edd, a person can still be amazed if you did a good presentation without fooling them. |

just a note...
I did the same venue yesterday. It was one of my better shows. Go figure. |

I concentrate not on fooling anyone. I am not there at my shows to simply fool or amaze at skillful ability. I am there to ENTERTAIN them. If my presentations of magic make them happy, smile and feel good, then I have done my job regardless if they know how I do it or not. I want them to walk away feeling good and having had a good time.
Salazar: Congrats on a good show at that venue. It just goes that you should evaluate every performance, but never give up hope or get yourself down if you have one bad show. It happens some times. Look at your performance, find out if you could have done anything better, and learn from your experiences.
