Okay, I was working at an office supply company in Charlotte, NC, it was about 2:40pm and for some reason I had this nickel in my hand.
I said "hey...let's see if this will land on it's edge.." I flipped the nickel, it hit the floor bounced a couple times and landed flat...then stood up on it's edge and stayed that way!!!! TRUE story. Put that nickel in an envelope there and wrote "Magic Nickel 4-25-86 aprox 2:40pm" on it...and have kept it ever since!! I know there's been coins dropped or flipped where they ended up staying on their edge but wonder if anybody ever said "...see if it lands on it's edge..." and had it happen!!!???? Later today around 2:40pm I'm gonna buy a lottery ticket or two!! |

That's really cool.
Back in the eighth grade, our school went to a local fair and I ran into a couple of the other kids at the wheel of fortune (or whatever it's called). I was really into magic back then--had won the school talent show with a magic act--and everyone at school knew it. So my friend asked me to play, and I told her I'd watch her once and then play and win. So she played and didn't win. I put down a quarter, or whatever it was, and the lady behind the counter spun the wheel. I did a couple of magic passes at the wheel (the lady giving me a very strange look), and sure enough the wheel stopped at my number. The spooky thing was that I watched it slow down just as it was coming to my number, and I thought it was going to go just beyond it, but the darn thing stopped. I seem to remember a shiver going up and down my spine...

I was with some friends once and said, "Watch, I'll show you a trick." I had a cigarette going at the time so I tossed it to the ground where it bounced and stood straight up on the filter. They were impressed, but not as much as I was. That wasn't the trick I had intended, and I never got to show them the other one. I wish I could do it with a coin, though.

OMG ... I was just fast forwarding through Kiefer Sutherland's 1997 movie "Truth or Consequences NM" to see what it's like, whether or not it was worth watching.
At one point I sampled, Keifer's character says (paraphrased slightly) "That's my special quarter ... It's not what it is, it's what it represents ... Some cat flipped a quarter up on a newsstand and it landed on its edge. Now what are the chances of that?" Crazy coincidental that I should come across that today, when this thread started up.

It's freaky how coincidences always seem to happen at the same time...

I read this weekend about this doctor who used coconut water for blood transfusions during WWII. Then when I went to my German class yesterday this girl was telling some other students about the benefits of coconut water. Spoooooooookyyyyyyy.

There's nothing unusual about coincidence. We even have a word for it.

As I recall, Mark Jenest, used the word "coinkeedink" or something like that.

My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums. |
