Does anyone know of any inexpensive tricks that change the animal to odd colors. Also, where can I purchase doves to do a trick like turning a red cloth in to a red bird, or a green cloth to a green bird. How much does that generally cost?

It sounds like you are very new to animal magic and I would suggest, before you go out and purchse doves, try to get some books and videos on the care, feeding and handling of doves. It is very important to understand what is involved. Doves are not like magic props where you go out, buy one and make it work in a short time. It takes lot's of time, practice and patience. To make colored doves is an entirely different subject which has btw been discussed right here in this forum.
I don't mean to discourage you in any way but rather point you in the right direction. As I have commented many times in this forum, I would recommend purchasing the Tony Clark video series of dove magic and studying them first. The effects you have mentioned are not items you would buy from a dealer but rather routines that you would work out after raising and training you birds.

After doing what dave said you might want to try "Pop it." (I thinks that's the name of it.) It's doing vice versa. You place a colored dove inside of a cloth, pull the cloth and the dove changed into a colored silk. Another idea is the "Appearing Dove Balloon Tray." You can burst a colored balloon and it will turn into a colored dove. Those are the easy ways. After you do what Dave mentioned, you will notice tons of other ways also.
Always do what Dave mentions. He knows everything about doves. That is why we call him "The Dove Man." |

Gee, thanks Mike but I really don't know everything about doves. Just been there/done that sort of thing. Oh and Pop It is also called the Dove Mat.

I do a color changing dove in my act, I do it with permission from James Celin since I believe he originated the color changing dove idea.

My method is very different from James' Celin's, but I didn't want to step on any toes...my method has never been used before. Its a new approach.

Sperris,
I, also, do a color changing dove. It is also completely different from James Celien's method. Send me a personal message and I WILL SHARE MY METHOD WITH IF YOU WISH. Regards, Mike
Channing Pollack is my idea of the perfect magician. For those of you that have not seen him perform, I recommend trying to get hold of a video of an old movie called "European Nights" made about 1959.
I was able to buy this video from Stevens Magic |

Color Changing Dove? Do you use a prop tube or box for this? Or is this done via a switch ditch in tails or topit? Can you share the effect?

My color chaning dove is instant, like split second...the "Pendragons sub trunk switch" of dove magic I guess you can say. It uses no cover or prop, etc. ...But sorry...I won't discuss the method, I've already had too much of my stuff stolen and even marketed. Nothing personal to anyone on here, I've just been back-stabbed too many times.
